Windows Systems Administrator

The team: The Global Technology Solutions (GTS)
– Level 2 Windows team is mandated to ensure that Information Technology changes are effectively operated, scheduled, implemented, and verified to provide service delivery stability.

Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for systems level support for production critical systems, development systems, implementation support and user acceptance environment support on a global basis.

The role: This support comprises of technical assistance to users, resolution and prevention of problems in a 7×24 production environment, systems capacity planning and recommendation of solutions to overcome resource constraints, systems level software installation and updates.

You will be also responsible for establishing and enforcing departmental logical access control guidelines and liaison with other departments for assistance with implementing new projects.

There is a rotational on-call component for this role.

While we currently work remotely from home, when we can physically return to work, the primary work location of this position will be in the Etobicoke neighborhood of Dundas Street West & Highway 427.

Is this role right for you?

You will perform Windows Server OS troubleshooting and be involved in multiple technical projects.

You will perform Operational management of NetApp CIFs shares and interact with business representatives and their support to accommodate operational requests.

You are responsible for sending consistent and timely communications to business and IT stakeholders.

You will work with the global team to implement global framework to standardize tools, process and technologies related to software deployment.

You will be involved in automating routine procedures to improve support efficiency.

You will take an active role in new projects related to Windows and NetApp File-Server sharing, data migrations, disaster recovery support.

You will be responsible for maintaining currency in documenting the supported environments.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

You have strong communication (verbal/written) skills in order to interact with both technical & non-technical stakeholders; and produce written technical documentation for presentation.

You have at least 4 years of hands-on technical working experience in the systems administration & troubleshooting of Windows Server 2012 R2 & newer operating systems.

You have at least 2 years of hands-on technical working experience with both Windows Hyper-V Server & Hyper-V Replication.

You can demonstrate technical working knowledge of Windows File-Server sharing configuration & troubleshooting.

You can demonstrate a technical understanding of MS System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) & MS System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) technologies.

You have a working knowledge & understanding of NetApp.

Using Microsoft PowerShell and/or Perl and/or .NET, you can demonstrate the ability in writing effective Windows scripting that will survive a test of time.
