Job Description Reporting to the Global Head of Marketing and Strategy, the Vice President, Global Communications will lead the development, execution, and measurement of an integrated global communications strategy for Manulife Investment Management (MIM).

In addition, the VP, Global Communications will partner closely with Manulife’s Global Communications teams to regularly test and evolve the strategic crisis communications framework and communications plans for the company.

Key Accountabilities: The VP, Global Communications will lead the development, execution and measurement of an integrated global communications strategy for MIM.

This communications program will strengthen, enhance, protect, and further develop MIM’s global brand, image and reputation through proactive engagement with top-tier media outlets, as well as through a comprehensive approach to thought leadership and speaking opportunities for our senior leaders.

This will be complemented by a robust internal communications approach ensuring our colleagues understand our business priorities, and their role in achieving the same.

This leader will be responsible to : Track and measure results, regionally and globally Simplify, streamline, and optimize current crisis communication plans including a proactive process for identifying and proactively addressing emerging critical issues and crises.

Lead ongoing development and regular testing/evaluation to strengthen crisis communications strategies, issues management framework and related communications plans.

Ensure issues repository of key messages, backgrounders and Q&As reflects MIM business priorities.

Compose, draft, revise, coordinate approval process and issue media releases related to business, operations, and events.

Identify and build relationships with key thought leaders across the business.

Proactively work with them to develop and execute a proactive communications plan to increase awareness of MIM as a thought leader in our industry.

Work collaboratively with regional and global media teams to ensure the appropriate media coverage for large scale events or conferences.

Similar approach relative to Sponsorships and Philanthropy where this leader will need to focus on the importance of aligning those activities with our brand positioning and external messaging.

Build an influencer network by cultivating relationships with existing influencers and identifying new prospects to help us elevate our brand through rich and relevant third-party commentary and endorsement on issues and topics strategically important to MIM.

As required, make recommendations, and implement reputation monitoring surveys related to specific crises.

Monitor emerging issues, trend analysis and serves as corporate spokesperson and point of contact for media enquiries on corporate issues.

As applicable, effectively manage outside consultants, partners, and vendors Apply understanding of current and future business needs to attract, develop, and motivate a high performing, geographically dispersed team.

Create an environment with vision and clear purpose through achievable yet stretch objectives that engages employees toward a common goal.

Provides formal and informal feedback and coaching, and models critical behaviors for a customer centric culture.
