As a Visual Basic Developer finds solutions that meet the needs of our corporate customers at Dynacom related to architecture, implementation, testing and maintenance, The Visual Basic Developer must design fully functional, bug-free code with required documentation that meets development objectives and will be supported by other Corporate Integrators for customer implementation and by Dynacom Product Support for product-related issues outside of its custom development.

Responsabilities:

  • Design, code, and test major features in collaboration with team members, documentation specialists, architects, and other technical and development team members to deliver complex changes to our customers;
  • Demonstrate leadership for the development team;
  • Maintain and modify existing applications;
  • Perform maintenance programming for the existing version;
  • Perform personalized programming if requested;
  • Correct defects and add features;
  • Develop and test the implementation of programming;
  • Provide design and informational documentation to ensure effective code maintenance and efficient code reuse;
  • Participate in the design and implementation of databases;
  • Ensure functionality, performance, reliability, scalability, realistic execution schedules and system architecture for each task;
  • Interact with key partners and internal users regarding timelines, technical issues, and infrastructure integration;
  • Provide recommendations to improve the overall development process;
  • Ensure that the progress of the work follows the schedule and keep (internal) clients informed of the progress of the project;
  • Actively participate in team meetings and give recommendations/ideas on design projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent work experience;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a database developer working in SQL;
  • A minimum of 3 years of technical software development experience;
  • ASP.NET, Visual Basic 6.0, VBScript development experience;
  • Essential – ADO;
  • Important – XML-SOAP;
  • Development experience in SQL Server, MS Access;
  • Good understanding of the hardware-software boundary;
  • Able to effectively explain technical concepts to other technical staff;
  • Able to communicate effectively with non-technical members of the organization;
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies;
  • Effective communication skills with people at all levels of the organization;
  • Excellent work skills and team spirit;
  • Able to work under pressure and meet set deadlines;
  • Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrate a very high level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning in order to identify underlying principles, reasons or facts;
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts (an asset);
  • Bilingual French and English.
