Two Positions in Kitchener, ON OfficeTalented developers neededWork locationIn response to COVID19, we’ve been operating in a blended virtual and in-office arrangement.

Working as part of a project team, developing desktop applications for the High Tech Semiconductor industry, you will be involved in all phases of the software engineering process — from requirements gathering, functional specs and design to software development and system testing to travel to customer site (or remote support when more appropriate) for installation.

End to end development is our business.

Have your hand in everything from the bottom to the top of the stack; our code talks to the hardware and handles business logic in C#, provides a pipe for our customers’ data collection, and tops it off with a desktop UI that visualizes whatever insights the manufacturer’s operators need to know in real-time on a factory floor.

What’s the challenge?

Design for successEngage with customers and work with your team to capture requirements, design, develop, code using object-oriented design patterns, then integrate applications into customer systems.Create production quality desktop applications with C# on .NET 4.5, Python, SQL, and XML.

Make sure it worksPerform unit testing, support functional and integration testing on code and participate in bug fixes.Follow all code and documentation standards.Be a customer champion participating in installation and integration of software into the customer’s factory or tool automation systems.Troubleshoot issues reported from the customer site.

Become an expert Learn and utilizePEER Group’s connectivity, automation, and testing products along with the Semiconductor automation software standards.Acquire domain knowledge deploying solutions with factory business systems.

Collaborate Interact with your team, management, customers, and factory personnel.Collaborate with the customer development team to resolve issues on site.Work flexible hours or overtime as needed.

TravelTypically, travel to customer sites within North America, Asia and Europe are part of this position.

Current travel is curtailed by COVID restrictions, international travel rules, customer policies and PEER’s employee safety policies.

What do you need to bring with you?EducationPost-secondary education in a technical field (Bachelor of Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Software Programming Diploma, or similar).

Experience2+ solid years ofworking experience in desktop app design and demonstrated ability to learn new technologies.

Proven experience with delivering production quality code within critical customer deadlines.

Well-honed object-oriented coding skills with C# focus on .NET, SQL databases, WCF and Web services.Proficiency with Azure DevOps Server, Git, Team Foundation Version Control (TFVC) or other version control and application lifecycle management software Great with data structures and data manipulation.

Strength in Python scripting or similar technologies like Ruby, Bash, Perl, etc.Experience with of XML, XPATH and XQUERYExperience with Windows is a must; we’re a Microsoft Gold Partner.Bonus points for Special knowledge of discrete automation with robots or experience writing device drivers Extraordinary Problem Solving!Mechanical aptitude as you will be integrating and testing interfaces on various types of mechanical hardware, including robots.Keen troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.

Teamwork!Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers and teammates whether it’s face to face, on a video call, phone call or email.High commitment to success, ability to multitask within tight deadlines, and a professional demeanor are assumed.
