The technical writer is responsible for updating online help documentation and reviewing release notes for our solutions around retirement plan administration. He/she is also responsible for supporting our development teams in their writing, translation and revision needs.

Role/Capabilities

  • Collect changes to our solutions and update the online help to reflect these changes
  • Be the guardian of the norms and standards of writing and formatting of the online help and the release notes of our solutions. (Ensure standards are established, documented, and enforced)
  • Support teams in their writing, translation (English and French) and editing needs
  • Tailor all writing to its target audience
  • Ensure consistency of our documentation, use of correct terms and adaptation to the realities of each language or country
  • Participate in the planning of deliverables by iteration (Agile)
  • Break down the work to be done into user stories to facilitate planning and follow-up
  • Work closely with the IT business analysts to understand the changes to our solutions and ensure that the online help documentation adequately reflects them
  • Utilize technology tools required for collaboration, planning, tracking, updates and archiving of online help in code. (MadCap suite, ADO, GIT, TFS, Excel, Visio, Teams, Word, Power Point,)

To be successful as a Technical Writer, the candidate must possess the following skills:

  • A degree or equivalent, preferably in a concentration on writing in English and French, or in a technical field such as computer science
  • Fluent in both French and English, oral and written
  • Be extremely rigorous and meticulous
  • Have a very good working method
  • Strong collaboration skills, ability to adapt and work in harmony with others
  • Ability to understand and use current computer technologies
  • The following will be considered assets:
    • Have experience writing and/or doing code
    • Experience with MadCap, ADO, TFS, GIT, Visio
    • Experience with pension plans
