As a member of the WATTS Water Technologies Global Electronics R&D Engineering team, located at the tekmar Control Systems facility in Vernon, British Columbia in the beautiful Okanagan Valley, the candidate will be responsible for leading the Software Engineering team in the design, development and implementation of our enterprise global electronics core platform.

This position is a critical role in our organization leading the delivery of technology-driven products that directly impact our growth.PURPOSE:The Software Engineering Lead is responsible for leadership of the Software Engineering team within the R&D Engineering Department.

As a technical and team leader, the individual manages the design, implementation, integration and maintenance of embedded software and Internet of Things (IoT) connected solutions for residential and commercial products related to HVAC, plumbing and advanced Water Quality management systems.

The Software Engineering Lead oversees and implements best practices in software architecture, development, verification and validation processes to ensure high quality standards are consistently achieved.

As a coach and mentor, the Software Engineering Lead supports technical and professional development to maintain and continue building a world-class high performance Software Engineering team.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Creates, implements and leads continuous improvement of world class software engineering practices.Ensures software development processes are maintained, practiced and improved through appropriate design, documentation and testing methodologies and tools.Leads coordination and alignment on software development standards and best practices with Watts Global Electronics and across Electronics Community engineering teams.Leads coordination with 3rd Party engineering and software development partners and vendors to ensure design and quality standards are maintained with processes and deliverables.Leads hiring, training and development of software engineering team members, including performance evaluation and setting objectives.Leads the development and implementation of best practices in software testing and testability.Participates in defining strategy and process improvement initiatives within the R&D Engineering Department.Participates in new technology development initiatives and product roadmap strategy.Works closely with other disciplines in Engineering, Product Management, Project Management, Quality, Manufacturing and IT internally and other Watts enterprise global business units.Leads software developers in the creation of high quality software.*Other duties as requiredREQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSAt least 8+ years relevant experience in software development with at least 2 years in a leadership and supervisory role.Knowledge of software development lifecycle best practices and deployment within an organization.Development, implementation and continuous improvement of software architecture, design standards and quality processes.Strong technical knowledge of firmware and embedded microcontroller system design focused on consumer products.Expertise in C/C++ programming, Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS) and hardware communication (e.g.

I2C, SPI, USB and Ethernet) based on ARM microprocessors.Strong analytical and problem solving skills.Ideal experience includes Electronics, Automation, Embedded Controls and IoT connectivity of products.Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and leadership skills.Knowledge of New Product Development process.Ability to recruit and retain top talent, motivate team members and coordinate cross-functional teams.DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLSCybersecurity testing and validation methods and tools.IoT architecture and development, e.g.
