Software Developer (Linux Kernel)


This is a Contract position in Winnipeg, MB posted May 27, 2021.

Worker Sub-Type: Regular Job Description: The BlackBerry QNX Team is looking for individuals to join a team focused on identifying performance bottlenecks at every level of our core systems (Kernel, networking, etc).

The selected candidate needs strong interpersonal skills to work well with others in a fast paced environment with sometimes changing priorities.

What we‘re looking for In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Linux Kernel, QNX RTOS, etc.) Knowledge of low level system hardware (debugging kernel issues, gdb) Experience identifying bottlenecks and performance issues Understanding of other core system (Networking, driver models) Solid systems architecture experience Critical ability to reverse engineer how a system is operating and where bottlenecks exist Someone who enjoys solving difficult optimization problems in unique deployments Someone with a solid track record of improving performance through various types of optimizations (micro, macro, architectural etc) Ability to communicate complex ideas to a wide variety of audiences to build consensus on solutions Education and Experience Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent 3 years working with Linux Kernel In-depth knowledge of C programming language Prior experience with core systems Imagine what you could do at QNX Our customers count on us to convert awesome ideas into great products and services.
