Position Summary Reporting to the Manager of Adolescent Intensive Services, and under the direction of the Intensive Outreach Pilot (IOP) Team Leader, the Clinical Social Worker is responsible for the planning and provision of treatment with clients between the ages of 10-16 years and their families struggling with Disruptive Behaviour Disorders.

The IOP service provides intensive, family therapy, community-based, outreach services for clients and their families, using the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy Model (ESFT).

As an integral member of the interprofessional team, the Clinical Social Worker is a treatment clinician responsible for providing individual and family treatment for clients of the Intensive Outreach Pilot.

The Clinical Social Worker provides consultation, guidance, and support to the service as needed, and leads the clinical coordination of treatment plans for clients and families.

The Clinical Social Worker provides clinical supervision to staff, promotes the provision of quality, evidence-based care to clients and families, participates in service development, and provides leadership to the treatment process.

Clinical services are provided to the family in their homes or another location convenient to them requiring the incumbent to travel regularly within HRM.

Hours of Work Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours days, evening work may be necessary to meet needs of clients/families Qualifications Masters Degree in Social Work required.

Currently licensed with, or eligible to be licensed with, the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers required.

Minimum of two (2) years related clinical experience as a Masters prepared Social Worker in the field of child/adolescent mental health and addictions is required.

An equivalent of clinical experience may be considered.

Successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) Program within the last 12 months required or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate required.

NVCI certification required.

Demonstrated proficiency in providing individual and family therapy required.

Demonstrated knowledge of disruptive behaviour disorders required.

Demonstrated theoretical knowledge and practice competency in a family systems approach required.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy model an asset.

Demonstrated formal supervised clinical experience and skills in the assessment and treatment of youth and families, where a young person is struggling with mental health issues, particularly disruptive behavior, required.

Recent experience in providing clinical supervision to staff/team preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of treatment implications of mental health issues and/or addictions.

Working knowledge of CONNECT and Trauma Informed Care preferred.

Understanding of, and commitment to, evidence informed practice/best practices required.

Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills required.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interprofessional care team, while effectively carrying out administrative and clinical responsibilities required.

Demonstrated excellent time management, workload prioritization, and organizational skills required.

Demonstrated conflict resolution skills required.

Demonstrated knowledge and competency in meeting IWK clinical documentation standards preferred.

Holds a valid minimal Class 5 Nova Scotia driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required.

Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
