HDR is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer and Integration Lead to join our office in Toronto, ON.

The incumbent will report locally to the Rail and Transit Systems Lead and also be part of the larger North Americas Rail Systems Team.

This person will work closely with project managers and collaborate with a wide variety of engineering teams and disciplines.

As a subject matter expert on Systems Engineering processes and concepts, an important role is to facilitate a consistent and uniform application of Systems Engineering (SE) principles for the engineering disciplines to assigned projects.

The expectation is that this candidate will have the ability to proactively lead (internally and in front of the client) the management of interfaces between systems and infrastructure elements as part of the project management team.

The person will be involved with developing and apportioning system-wide operational and technical requirements and have the ability to collaborate between technical groups in the solution of complex integration challenges.

The successful candidate is a “big thinker” who approaches things from a holistic systems perspective; they must have an attention to detail and lead collaboration while managing a wide range of personalities.

This position focuses on Rail and Transit Systems projects, however the successful candidate could support other projects that require systems engineering.

Primary Responsibilities In the role of Senior Systems Engineer and Integration Lead, well count on you to: Develop system engineering plans and other SE deliverables Facilitate and develop Concept of Operations (ConOp) Oversee requirements gathering and development Technical reviews of designs, program plans, specifications, construction submittals, testing and commissioning documentation, etc.

for compliance with requirements Develop and manage Systems Interface and Integration Process Specifications development and integration of all systems elements with infrastructure, vehicles, facilities, etc.

Develop, manage, and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICD) Support Safety Certification, RAMS and Validation & Verification (V&V) processes Participate in the demonstration of compliance to standards, regulations and technical requirements Lead integration and interface coordination meetings Identify and report on SE KPI’s Training/Onboarding of Engineers for DOORS Ensure consistent use of DOORS thought-out project lifecycle Assist in Performance monitoring to ensure compliance with RAMS requirements Mentor Staff and be a strong advocate for the Systems Engineering both as a way of thinking and as an engineering discipline Participate in the development of HDR’s strategy for the incorporation of SE principals and practices on Transportation projects Participate in the development of best practices for instituting SE and successfully deploying these practices on projects Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in engineering (preferably Systems Engineering), or extensive demonstratable SE experience.

9 years of SE related experience Transit systems design, construction, testing and commissioning experience Demonstratable experience with formal Systems Engineering processes Experience in several phases of systems requirements development life cycle including analysis, requirements management, design, implementation, traceability, testing and commissioning, factor acceptance testing, system acceptance testing, etc.

Experience working with Requirements Management Tools, such as IBM DOORS.

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must Preferred Qualifications P.Eng INCOSE Certification such as CSEP or ESEP is preferred Experience configuring and managing IBM Rational DOORS next gen.
