Senior Software Engineer

The Sr Software Engineer will form part of the Reuters News Agency Audio and Video systems development team.

You will be responsible for designing and developing code to work within the Reuters audio and video ecosystem, including live and file based content.

This infrastructure comprises a number of mature and yet to be developed services, in a cloud native environment.

You will work as part of an agile team on various projects to meet the business needs About the Role In this opportunity as Sr Software Engineer, you will: Be part of a collaborative development working on various projects across the Reuters News Agency Be responsible for the design and development of tools and applications within the Reuters organization Work closely with key stakeholders and various team members to establish priorities and update on progress of projects Assist in setting expectations and priorities throughout development life cycle; determining design methodologies and tool sets; completing programming using languages and software products; designing and conducting tests.

Assist in coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems and operating platforms.

Support users by developing documentation and assistance tools.

Update job knowledge by researching new web/client technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

About You You’re a fit for the role if you possess: 3-5 years practical software development experience (Node.js, Python or Java preferred) Working knowledge of databases (SQL preferred) Ability to methodically troubleshoot/investigate problems in a timely manner Ability to learn on the job Good communications and team-working skills Knowledge of cloud computing concepts, AWS cloud and micro service / API design and development preferred What’s in it For You?
