Senior Java Developer


This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted July 27, 2021.

What is the opportunity?

This position is a senior Java Application developer (TSA
– Technical Systems Analyst) working to develop new and extend existing applications in the RBC Creditor Insurance portfolio.

As a member of RBC Insurance Technology Team, the primary focus of this role will be to create the technical design, develop, integrate and maintain functionalities that support Creditor Insurance applications.

This will include working with other internal development teams and infrastructure groups.

You may be required to work on multiple concurrent projects.

You will drive the development and enhancement of existing applications within this diverse portfolio in support of business growth and an evolving regulatory environment.

What will you do?

You will be working within an Agile product team, creating new internet facing applications to support RBC Creditor Insurance initiatives As a Senior Developer, you will lead detailed design phases for projects, developing and deploying technical applications, conduct code reviews, co-ordinate with other internal/external team members for production releases and follow RBC Release and Change Management process.

Technical analysis and helping project members refine requirements/user stories to develop / enhance functionality on custom built Java applications Ensures adequate documentation is prepared, follows and implements Industry best practices in application development and reuse, Follow standardized processes, develop operational efficiencies and ensure applications are aligned to enterprise security compliance, security policies and procedures Develop, test and assist in the design of the microservices that offers the data and services to both internal and external partners.

Contribute towards the creation of intuitive, robust, and reusable user interfaces using modern frameworks Stay open-minded and look beyond your stack to solve complex problems and be proactive with suggestions for continued improvements Work closely with the DevOps team to ensure solution deployments are fully automated Develop and support RPA and RDA automation solutions across a variety of teams Complete regular application readiness (ACT) testing to ensure continued functionality in ever-changing environments Coordinate the configuration and deployment of a new third-party product Setup testing environments for the new third-party application What do you need to succeed?

Must-have 4 years software Java and Angular UI development experience, preferably working with Spring Framework Experience developing web based applications (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) Experience developing micro services (RESTful, SOAP) Experience with Security and Authentication on Java Applications Experience building and deploying applications on Cloud Platform (PCF, Azure, Openshift or AWS) Experience with API publishing to both internal and external partners using APIGee, DataPower or ISAM Experience working in an Agile development team Experience with Continuous Integration tools
– Jenkins, GitHub, Automated Testing tools, or similar tools Experience developing with PEGA Robotics, C# Visual Studio Experience with Microsoft SQL and database manipulation Nice-to-have Experience with Insurance industry (Creditor) would be an asset DevOps technology experience Experience with Websphere, .NET, Swagger Codegen, Blue Prism, Mainframe Experience documenting with Atlassian’s Confluence Experience working with onshore and offshore resources What’s in it for you?
