What can you expect in this role?

Reporting to the AVP, Technology Strategy, Planning and Operations, this role is accountable for the development of internal and external communications for multiple Technology Solutions (TS) projects. This includes writing effective and engaging Corporate and Change communications, taking a proactive role in developing and editing messages, web content and copy to ensure they are aligned to technology department, company brand, and communication standards.

Independently and with support of senior leadership, the incumbent develops proactive and strategic internal and external communications using strategies/tactics that align with the Technology strategy, team culture, and company values. This role will participate in strategic meetings (as required) with senior internal and external leaders, and consultants.

  • Work directly with senior leaders to design, develop, and assist in the implementation of internal communications strategy and plan for the TS organization with a campaign-focused approach
    • Support CIO speaking engagement prep with key messaging, briefs, etc.
    • Support the TS senior leadership team in the development of innovative and inspiring TS employee communications.
    • Lead and create employee-facing materials to enhance the employee experience (e.g., weekly updates, monthly newsletters)
    • Deploy wide-ranging, proactive and innovative communications that align to our Technology vision, Business and Corporate priorities, as well as company values
  • Ensure key strategic messages are developed and conveyed appropriately to a wide rage of stakeholders for Technology-driven projects, including TS Transformation
    • Participate in project leadership meetings to proactively solicit and capture internal communication opportunities, key messaging, and take responsibility for execution
    • Contribute to the development of comprehensive communication strategies and plans that support the execution of programs goals and objectives
    • Play a key role in guiding and delivering effective and engaging internal communications, and change management communication strategies
    • Work on cross functional teams. Initiate and maintain strong collaborative working relations with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Combine subject matter understanding, communications expertise, and organizational knowledge to bring strategic, professional communications counsel to senior / functional leadership and departmental teams, as needed.
  • Produce regular reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) to track internal progress against communication calendar / plan / events. Innovate and measure communication effectiveness to demonstrate value of resources, focused on the employee / internal customer experience
  • Partner with other communications / marketing functions across the company to develop our organizational narrative, and collaborate on the development of graphics, visuals, and lay-out that complement content and meet internal customers’ needs
  • Champion Economical / Technology Solutions vision, brand and compliance / communication standards to ensure a consistent voice
  • Play a role in employee engagement efforts, and supporting internal communication channels (e.g., Yammer) and collaborative tools (MS Teams, Sharepoint, etc.)

What do you bring to the role?

  • University degree
  • You are a skilled storyteller with 5+ years of progressive communications work experience, with proven ability to develop creative, compelling, and engaging narrative to address a variety of technical and non- technical audience
  • Bilingualism is a strong asset. Strong command of Canada’s official languages, expressed in verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic capability to develop and implement innovative and relevant communications dealing with complex technology issues.
  • Proactive and self-motivated. Works independently, and manages effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive networking and proven ability to build fruitful and effective work relationships; with the ability to influence others across the organization
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills. Ideally with previous experience in the insurance industry, or technology areas
  • Resilience and ability to enjoy working, coordinating, and implementing multiple projects and tasks
  • Hands-on / admin experience with using other content management systems / collaboration tools (e.g., Sharepoint, Yammer, MS Teams)
  • Experienced in Corporate Event management
