Senior Cybersecurity Specialist, Threat Hunting

The Senior Cyber Security Specialist, within Threat Intelligence is a key member of a fast-paced team responsible for defending Canadian Tire’s technology infrastructure and web assets against a complex cyber threat environment.

Working independently and as part of a large Cybersecurity team, this position collaborates with both IT and business areas to ensure that Canadian Tire is best-in-class when it comes to Cybersecurity Operations.

What you’ll do Help drive and lead the Threat Intelligence program in CTC, including developing and planning the strategy to evolve the program Review and recommend platforms and technology to enhance Threat Intelligence effectiveness As part of a Threat Intelligence team, identify , prioritize, document, and communicate potential threats across all banners in the organization Conduct regular and Ad-Hoc threat hunting exercises Develop actionable intelligence & detection rules via technical indicators, reports, rules, signatures, or warnings Development of scripts and/or automation to facilitate collection and analysis of TI data as required Actively participate Threat Intelligence communities to stay informed of emerging threats and share information with others Prepare threat assessments for special events and initiatives, and present to senior and executive Provide expert-level support for large scale or complex security incidents Collaborate with Business Partners in Risk & Fraud on cases, providing technical investigative capabilities.

What you’ve done The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency with: 5 years of technical experience in a large enterprise environment with demonstrated ability to analyze complex security threats.

Identify potential malicious activity from memory dumps, logs, and packet captures Knowledge of modern development languages (e.g.

Java, .NET, C/C++, JavaScript) and scripting languages (Python, Perl, Bash, etc.) Knowledge and experience in analysis of various threat actor groups, attack patterns and tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), deep analysis of threats across the enterprise by combining security rules, content, policy and relevant datasets Knowledge of application, network, and platform security practices Strong knowledge of malware families and network attack vectors.

Strong knowledge of Linux, Windows system internals.

Strong knowledge of web applications and APIs Experience with security devices such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, HIDS/HIPS, anomaly detection, Firewall, Antivirus systems, Endpoint Detection & Response tools, and their log output Experience with industrial taxonomies like Cyber Kill Chain, MiTRE’s ATT&CK, MiTRE’s CAPEC, MiTRE’s CAR, NIST, CIF, SANS and STIX 2.0 Certification in Security is preferred (e.g.
