Senior Consultant – Compliance, Administrative Solutions

LifeWorks is currently looking for a consultant/senior consultant who would be excited to join the compliance team within our Pension Plan Administration department. With comprehensive knowledge of Canada’s various pension laws, the Consultant/Senior Consultant, Compliance, will ensure that the impact of laws and regulations on administrative practices is assessed, implemented and communicated.

Your main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Collaborate on assessing the administrative impact of new laws or regulations based on an analysis by legal experts
  • Act as a liaison between the compliance team and our organization’s legal department
  • Provide leadership in your area of expertise and work with others to draw up recommendations that will limit exposure to compliance-related risks
  • Prepare communications, both internal and for clients, about legislative changes and their administrative impact
  • Develop and update legislative compliance documents for the pension plan administration team (e.g.: benefit statement and annual statement requirements by province, “small amount” rules, etc.)
  • Support implementation teams during new installations (annual and benefit statement compliance, interpretation of plan texts, etc.)
  • Provide the administrators of our various pension plans with advice about decisions that require legal expertise
  • In cooperation with subject-matter experts, suggest measures for implementing required changes and assess the impact on the administration team in terms of ongoing effort
  • Support subject-matter experts in their activities and provide training for them
  • Ensure that all documentation is updated by subject-matter experts and that training is given in accordance with the complexity of the subject
  • Coordinate and validate technical training content
  • In cooperation with subject-matter experts, ensure the compliance of a text databank for annual statements and benefit statements
  • Keep FAQs up to date with the assistance of subject-matter experts

Your profile:

  • University degree in a related field
  • Minimum of seven years’ relevant experience in defined benefit pension plan compliance
  • Member of the Quebec Bar preferred
  • Knowledge of pension plan legislation and regulations
  • Excellent influence and leadership skills
  • Bilingual, with good written and spoken communication skills
  • Able to manage and motivate a work group
  • Willing to take initiative; good problem-solving skills
