Organizational Context and Background Global Procurement (GP) provides procurement services to both KPMG International (KPMGI) and to member firms in situations where goods and/or services are being procured for multiple member firms.

Global Procurement focuses on driving a competitive commercial edge in contractual arrangements with KPMG’s suppliers while simultaneously managing reputational, commercial and contractual risk including: Leading the KPMG Procurement Leadership Forum, consisting of the US, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Australia, Italy, Spain, France, India, Canada, Brazil and KPMG International, in collectively defining and deploying best practices in procurement policies, processes, frameworks and toolkits Aggregating the demand of planned purchases of goods and services across the network (KPMGI and member firms) and leveraging this scale to negotiate competitive contracts with third parties Providing strategic sourcing services to key functional groups in KPMGI (e.g., Global IT Services, Global L&D, Global Collaboration & Knowledge, Global PPC, Global Marketing & Communications), in partnership with the International Office of General Counsel (IOGC), Information Protection Group, Independence, Information Security, to enter into contractual relationships with third parties Global Procurement endeavors to drive a relentless focus on quality and excellent service, aligning its efforts on KPMG’s strategic priorities, and building a culture, wherein, working shoulder-to-shoulder in true partnership with our stakeholders is the norm not the exception.

The Senior Manager (Software) reports to the Director of Software Procurement.

The Senior Manager is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the category strategy and plans for an assigned category.

This role is the strategic sourcing lead for major/high risk/complex transactions, manages the performance of suppliers, manages client planning and reporting, and establishes processes for commodity buys for the Specialist team.

The Senior Manager is the Subject Matter Expert for the assigned category.

This role builds joint category strategies with stakeholders and brings extensive market knowledge to KPMGI.

The role is the primary relationship manager with the business.

The incumbent builds lasting relationships with KPMGI key stakeholders and member firms and promotes the KPMG values.

The focus area for this role will be large/strategic suppliers with a specific focus on Microsoft and including but not limited to SAP, IBM etc.

and ensuring operations in alignment to a cohesive strategy that works for KPMG I and its member firms.

Where cross charging is applicable, the role will oversee that function for the suppliers under his/her management and include process steps that minimize financial exposure to KPMG International.

By virtue of being a senior manager, he/she will also be responsible for providing guidance coaching to less tenured staff of Global Procurement – either in capacity of a direct line manager OR as a senior coach/colleague.

What you will do Strategy and Business Planning Develops and/or refreshes the category strategy and annual plans for assigned high value/high risk suppliers ensuring alignment with the goals, strategies and value proposition of Global Procurement Engages key stakeholders to understand and identify their business priorities and identify needs Researches the supply market of products/services within assigned category to understand the current and potential strengths and weaknesses Researches innovative or emerging procurement processes in the marketplace Researches what’s been done in KPMGI and member firms to identify opportunities and risks Assesses financial, operational, legislative and reputational risk during the development of the strategy and plans Partners with key stakeholders to write/update the category strategy and plans for review and approval by the Chief Procurement Officer Business Operations Implements and monitors approved category plans for assigned category Establishes buying channels to ensure that the right, value-added channels are being used for the different types of spend Recommends vendor segmentation based on optimal alignment with business requirements Sources, develops and monitors preferred supplier lists Monitors and tracks plans, and takes corrective action as required Is the strategic sourcing lead for Microsoft and other major/high risk/complex transactions Collaborate with member firms to assess and determine common go-to-market strategies needed to deliver required results Establishes vendor selection criteria, metrics and measures based on business needs analysis Partners with business units to source and select suppliers Negotiates pricing, service levels, and terms and conditions/contracts and implements agreements (may include MSAs including terms and conditions, rate cards, SLAs and SOWs) Maintains ongoing, productive relationships with all suppliers in assigned category – is the primary supplier relationship manager for Microsoft and other major suppliers Implements contracts and leads the day-to-day management of contracts Tracks day-to-day performance of suppliers Monitors, measures and analyzes supplier’s ability to meet contractual terms and conditions based on defined measurement criteria/scorecards Understands whether efficiencies are being met and identifies gaps in performance and areas for improvement Builds working relationship and converses regularly with suppliers to minimize problems and take corrective action as quickly as possible Manages the client demand planning and reporting for assigned category Dialogues with clients to keep up-to-date on procurement activities within the category and plan for/accommodate any unforeseen changes in spend that may occur during the two to three year life cycle of the plan Share supplier, trend and spend information with clients Establishes processes for commodity buys for Specialist team Trains buyers in assigned category in accordance with category guidance documents Reviews category assignments on an ongoing basis to take advantage of training and cross-functional talent development opportunities for category management staff and other staff within Global Procurement Supports the implementation, execution and maintenance of the category governance framework Educates and trains category staff and/or other staff within Global Procurement Continuously reviews and makes recommendations for improvements to the framework as necessary Monitors and administers the assigned spend under management, and takes corrective action as required.

Is the subject matter expert for assigned category Keeps abreast of latest trends, innovations, leading practices in assigned category Knows and understands relevant legislation and regulatory requirements Participates in Global Procurement’s continuous improvement program by identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness and/or better align to client needs within assigned category Relationship Management Is the primary relationship manager with the business units/stakeholders Engages stakeholders in continuous conversation to pass on new information coming down the pipe and solidify partnerships for future procurement activities related to assigned category Informs business units of Global Procurement’s performance against expected measurement criteria Maintains ongoing productive relationships with the Heads of Procurement in key member firms to: Promote and provide education on Global Procurement’s category strategy, key initiatives and value proposition for assigned category Review analyses on key Business Services or IT procurement activities in member firms to identify opportunities to: leverage global and member firm procurement capabilities to address shared needs in assigned category share best practices Maintains ongoing, productive relationships with all suppliers within assigned category Develops and delivers relationship management and service level standards based on established industry standards (i.e., ITIL and ISO) Team & Professional Leadership Mentors/coaches up to five (5) individuals Provides input and feedback in terms of job accountabilities, annual goals and performance, compensation recommendations Assesses performance and takes corrective action as necessary Provides ongoing coaching and mentoring Participates in internal and external forums and builds networks to maintain subject matter expertise and identify emerging trends and best practices for potential implementation within Global Procurement What you bring to the role The ideal candidate is experienced Procurement professional responsible for operations within a large complex organization operating in multiple jurisdictions.
