Senior application developer, sap

MTIS is the team making it happen.The opportunity:The Senior Application Developer for SAP solutions role is to act as the senior technical specialist in the design, planning and development of new and enhancement of existing solutions within SAP that are efficient, scalable and at times, highly complex.

Within this role, you must have excellent SAP development skills, business and technical analytical skills, & a customer focus.You must be able to gather development requirements through workshop sessions and translate these requirements into technical ones in collaboration with the functional analysts in order to provide a list of options and solutions to clients.In summary, you will be responsible for properly documenting requests or issues, coordinate and lead the development on the resolution or options analysis, develop and test the chosen options and monitor the deployment into the production system.Please note this is a one-year contract position.

This role may be based in Montreal or Ottawa.What’s in it for you?Challenges.

The Media industry is highly nuanced and incredibly complicated; updating, installing and supporting technologies that are organization-wide and that impact broadcasting content is a time-sensitive, complex technical feat.

And that’s just the beginning.What you will focus on:Collect, document and review requirements into technical design documents based on a full understanding of the functionality required.

Prepare feasibility studies for new technologies, or for optimization of development areas, including detailed estimation.

Lead development and delivery of new development efforts and bug fixes.Research and propose options and resolutions to issues or enhancements in line with SAP best practice.

Oversee the design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation of systems, acting as lead for other development resources.

Work collaboratively with functional and technical teams.Identify needs for upgrading or enhancements where current technical capacity does not meet client requirements based on recurring issues or future needs.

Ensure the safeguarding, version control and quality of source code.Develop test plans and test strategy for unit and integration testing.

Develop integration strategies and approaches in collaboration with other groups and partners.Participate and provide feedback in Lessons Learned sessions.Design, test and deploy solutions and apply industry best practices in doing so.

Create/Update functional documentation before delivery.Provide assistance, guidance and training to the clients as needed.Keep abreast of new and upcoming functionality within the supported applications.

We are looking for a candidate with the following: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or College Diploma with relevant experience.Minimum five (5) years of experience occupying the role of a SAP ABAP Developer for the ECC and SRM space.Senior level expertise in the areas of SAP systems Analysis, design and coding.Detailed knowledge of the SAP software suite with focus in modules of FI/CO, SD, MM, BW and Asset Management.Strong knowledge of SAP Best Practices and Development Standards.Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the documentation, analysis, research and design of solutions within a medium to large enterprise using SAP and a release management program.

In depth knowledge of systems development and project life cycle methodologies including implementation experience for at least one major project end to end.

Possess experience leveraging tools such as SAP Solution Manager, as well as Google productivity tools (or similar) to design and document your changes.Familiar with change management, incident management methodologies and tools (ITSM, ITIL).SAP certification or training, and knowledge of Agile practices for specification and testing are not required, but are an asset.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English are required; French considered a strong asset.Periodic travel may be required.
