Quality Specialist

Exceldor Cooperative is looking for a Quality Specialist. Reporting to the Corporate Quality and Regulatory Affairs Director (DQCAR), the Quality Specialist will be responsible for communicating, promoting and ensuring compliance with quality standards (SQF, HACCP, etc.) within all divisions of Exceldor Cooperative and its co-manufacturers. The candidate will be expected to support factories nationally in quality assurance activities related to internal and external audits, adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Quality policies and compliance with all CFIA regulations and related laws.

More specifically, the successful candidate will:

• Acts as a key contributor/influencer, across all divisions, in a customer service vision ;
• Acts as a resource and mentor for the plant quality teams; can direct the work of others without formal managerial ;
• responsibilities; may use internal or external resources to achieve goals ;
• Develops practical solutions (tools, reports…) to complex problems which require frequent use of creativity ;
• Anticipates changes and/or issues and communicates, with management and/or plant, potential pre-identified solutions ;
• Interacts with senior managers on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines ;
• Represents the department on projects and can play a project manager role.

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology or equivalent experience ;
• Over 6 years of experience in a similar quality role in a food production environment (multi-site support, influence, leadership) ;
• Excellent knowledge of the HACCP, SQF, and GFSI standards, as well as meat and other food item inspection;
• Mastery of agri-food legislation (Canadian and U.S. agri-food laws and regulations);
• Knowledge of Quality standards in Canada (SQF a major asset) ;
• High computer skills including Microsoft Office, QA Applications and Databases ;
• Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies related to Quality Assurance ;
• Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements ;
• French/English proficiency: advanced level required for this position
