Programmer Analyst

Job Description Reporting to the Manager, Application Services, the Programmer Analyst will be responsible to perform, support and develop the company’s ERP, databases, interfaces, data warehouse and reporting solutions.

This position can be based out of the Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg or Mississauga office.

Responsibilities Analyze, define and develop the logical and physical models of the data warehouse, the design of data and the application integration, in conjunction with the Senior Data Architect.

Initiate, analyze, design, develop, test and implement processes and logic to extract, transform, and distribute data across one or more data stores from a variety of sources using a combination of SQL, Excel, and ETL tools according to corporate and best practice data standards.

Understand the data requirements, identify and cleanse data quality issues, develop efficient integration processes and create reports using requirements provided by the Business Analyst and in consultation with the Senior Data Architect.

Define and manage the relationships of data meanings, key business facts and processes.

Create reports and queries using various analytical software including SQL, Power BI, SSRS, Crystal Reports and others.

Create, document and maintain custom scripts, stored procedures, database views and interfaces as needed.

Co-ordinate the scheduling of warehouse refresh processes.

Monitor interface reports and logs to confirm accurate transfer and conversion of data, and ensure problems are actioned and resolved in a timely manner.

Optimize table schemas, indexes, and database queries Create and maintain detailed documentation of all custom reports, development and processes Coordinate and participate in reviews of development efforts to ensure consistent methodologies are followed and to make recommendations where necessary.

Qualifications Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related discipline 3 years’ practical hands–on programming, integration and data warehouse experience SQL Server Management Studio and experience in MS SQL Server 2014 environment with proven skills in SQL development including functions, triggers, stored procedures and views Experience as an ETL Programmer/Analyst leading and performing tasks related to the design and development of various ETL deliverables Strong proficiency developing reports in SSRS, Crystal Reports, Power BI and other analytical applications Experience with Vista/Viewpoint an asset Proficiency in programming with Visual Basic, .NET VB/C#, Javascript Working knowledge of interfacing and data migration ideal Experience developing technical design specifications from business requirements Dell Boomi experience an asset Previous experience working with any construction industry software an asset Experience in data warehouse projects based on the Kimball methodology an asset Ability to use good judgment and demonstrate discretion in the handling of confidential and or sensitive information Highly developed interpersonal skills and strong customer service orientation Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups Strong written and oral communication skills Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail About Us Safety, sustainability, collaboration, and integrity are core company values that encourage innovation and make a lasting difference in meeting the goals of our stakeholders and the communities in which we operate.
