The Investment and Risk practice, a part of the Retirement and Financial Solutions line of business, has been providing investment consulting services to our clients for over 30 years, spanning investment strategy, asset allocation, investment manager selection, and performance monitoring. The practice has also become an industry leader in pension risk management (asset-liability modelling) and pension risk transfer consulting. In 2012, we launched LifeWorks Investment Management to provide implemented investment and risk management solutions (OCIO).
Reporting to the leader of the Investment Consulting team, the candidate will be the primary investment consultant for a portfolio of clients, participate in new business opportunities within their region and nationally, and lead a team of investment analysts in the region.
Responsibilities
Develop, build, extend, and expand strong client relationships
As lead investment consultant, provide full range of investment consulting to clients and their pension / investment committees, including:
Development of investment strategy to meet client short / long-term objectives
Consulting on governance and governance structure
Development / review / documentation of investment policy
Delivery of investment performance analysis and recommendations
Recommending investment manager changes
Leading investment manager searches
Education / updates on industry trends / issues
Work collaboratively with colleagues across other practices / teams to develop cost-effective solutions to meet client needs
Lead / develop a team of investment analysts
Provide peer review of work completed by others ensuring adherence to technical, professional, and ethical standards
Act as a resource of broad based investment knowledge to colleagues in other practice areas
Perform investment market research and intellectual capital production for the development of marketing material
Managing special projects as required
Qualifications
Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant industry experience
Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder preferred
Some actuarial background preferred
Strong project management, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Team leadership skills with ability to mentor / guide / motivate others
Ability to work collaboratively and independently with minimum supervision
Knowledge of the investment process for institutional investment programs (including defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, endowments, and foundations); knowledge of institutional investment managers
Bilingual (French and English) preferred
Some ability to travel preferred
