Payroll and Benefits Coordinator
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Reporting to the Controller, the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator guides and manages all Canadian and US payroll and benefit policies and programs, including Bi-weekly payroll processing, Benefit administration and Expenses system administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Payroll Administration:
- Assist with full cycle payroll for hourly and salary employees, including setting up new hires in Ceridian Dayforce through to terminations and ROE’s.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple pay cycles for both Canada and US based employees.
- Maintain a wide variety of payroll information, files, and records in electronic formats for business continuity and audit trail for compliance.
- Assist with year-end duties including T2200’s and T4 run.
- Ensure compliance with all related federal/provincial and state legislations, and internal policies and procedures as they relate to payroll services.
- Liaise with CRA and Service Canada to provide payroll information as required.
- Respond to external and internal payroll questions/ concerns and inquiries on a timely and accurate basis.
- Concur expense system administration.
- Working with HR Generalist, assist with day-to-day system maintenance requirements and troubleshooting.
- Assign and maintain payroll related workflows (vacation days, sick days, etc.)
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Benefits Administration:
- Process benefit enrollments and changes in SunLife (Canada), UNUM & United Healthcare (USA), along with Ceridian/Dayforce.
- Process enrollments, transactions, and changes for investments/RSP/401K through RBC (Canada) and John Hancock (USA).
- Provide employees with benefits package information.
- Respond to external and internal questions/ concerns regarding benefits in a timely and accurate basis.
- Conducts monthly & quarterly audits and reviews of benefits enrollments.
- Assist Finance department with ad hoc duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 5+ years in a Payroll/ Benefits Administration Role.
- Must have experience in Canadian and US payroll and benefit functions.
- Full understanding of payroll & benefit legislation in both Canada and USA.
- Post-secondary education in Payroll/ Benefits/ Human Resources or job related experience.
- Must have proficient working knowledge of all Ceridian HR platforms – CERIDIAN DAYFORCE and POWERPAY
- Experience in SAP Concur Expense Management System is an asset
- Above average command of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints.
- Experience within Manufacturing Environment preferred.
