We invite you to join our innovative team and truly make a difference in someone’s life.ON Semiconductor’s SWM Division is seeking an innovative and creative Embedded Systems Developer to join the Hardware & Systems team in our Waterloo office.

We create a diverse set of products that demands an environment of constant learning, in a friendly and team-oriented atmosphere.The focus of the position is the design and development of embedded systems solutions to augment the division’s ASIC and ASSP offerings.

The team works on the applications and building blocks for our wireless and audio DSP integrated circuits.

This position will also contribute significantly to the development of firmware for our Software Development Kits (SDKs) that our customers use to develop their own applications on our devices.ResponsibilitiesBuild world class embedded solutions for our wireless and/or audio DSP system-on-chip devicesDevelop firmware for wireless applications, particularly using Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)Contribute critical firmware components to the SDKs for our ICssuch as:Wireless protocolsSample applicationsHardware abstraction layersSystem librariesBootloaders & Boot ROMsContribute to system level validation of our ASICs & ASSPsContribute to the system architecture of our wireless and/or DSP platforms including providing input to the IC architecture, board-level system design and defining interactions between hardware & softwareProviding technical content for end user documentationSupport for customer issues or requestsRequirements:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably with specialization in embedded systems, communications protocols, or digital signal processing10 years of experience working with embedded systems and firmware developmentExperience with wireless technologies especially Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth Classic or other Bluetooth applicationsInterest or experience with the semiconductor industryExperience in developing solutions to quality-driven processes or standardsSkills, Knowledge and AttributesExcellent understanding of embedded system design at the board & IC levelsStrong embedded software development skills with experience in C and/or assembly languageStrong knowledge of wireless protocols.

Familiarity with Bluetooth Low Energy and Bluetooth Classic wireless protocol stack is an asset.Good knowledge of microprocessor architecture including memory sub-systems, interrupts & typical peripherals such as timers, UART, I2C, etc.Experience in system evaluation using FPGA prototype platformDetail-oriented and quality conscious throughout development cycleExperience in using standard lab equipment for testing, taking measurements & debugging systemsExperience with scripting languages, preferably PythonExperience in developing test automation would be an assetExcellent written and oral communication skills
