We are looking for bright, passionate and motivated developers to join our Enterprise Platforms (EPPS) group to help reach that goal and deliver positive impact to our members’ lives through technology.

The EPPS group develops and supports key platforms and products within LifeWorks, from our APIs to Machine Learning and Cognitive apps. Our technology is used across the LifeWorks portfolio of apps, and we follow product-driven agile methodology.

As an associate product development engineer with EPPS, you’ll work with one of our multidisciplinary product or platform teams, building services or products in .NET and Azure to support our dev teams or impact our members.

This role is for a new or recent graduate of a technology degree or training program and will include enrollment in our new graduate training and mentorship program. This will include technical and soft skills, career coaching, and social events.

This role can be done remotely in Canada by a motivated individual. Individuals based near a LifeWorks office have the option to work out of that office. Optional team events will be held in Markham.

What will I do?

  • Based on your interests and abilities, you will join one of our product or platform teams to contribute to our cognitive/AI products, our backend APIs, or other client-facing products.

  • Join team daily stand-ups and sprint planning meetings, help to estimate and break down tasks, and learn the ins and outs of agile development.

  • Support QA, product documentation, product roadmap discussions, code reviews, bug investigation, deployments and software development (full stack / front-end).

  • Collaborate with a mentor to setup a learning and development plan for your time with LW, leveraging our in-house training subscriptions, hands-on training, and job shadowing.

What do I need to know?

  • Completed a degree, diploma or training program in Computer Science, Engineering, programming or other related field

  • Good understanding of fundamentals including OOP, design patterns, REST/web services, coding best practices

  • Min 6 month coding experience or coursework either in web front-end (React, Angular, TypeScript, Bootstrap), or full stack (Java, C#, Node.js, python, etc.).

  • Understanding of how to build a web app, debug it, investigate and resolve problems, and deploy an app into production. Personal projects count, but no forks or labs/tutorials please.

  • Familiarity with tooling like git and swagger/Open API

  • A hunger to learn, with the ability to flourish in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

What will help me succeed?

  • Enjoy tackling tough problems, including complicated production authentication issues or delivering a crucial ticket by sprint’s end

  • Love learning new technologies like cognitive APIs or event-stream processing

  • Take ownership for their tickets and sprint commitments all the way to deployment and beyond

  • Be great team players, collaborating effectively with Product, UX, QA, Delivery, DevOps, etc.

  • Communicate clearly in English, both spoken and written (French is a bonus)

  • Deepen your experience with dev tooling including git, swagger, Visual Studio, etc.
