Network Technician – Wireless/Wireline


This is a Contract position in Prince George, BC posted August 13, 2019.

Network Technician
– Wireless/Wireline On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Network Technician
– Wireless/Wireline 12 month contract in Prince George, BC.

Network Technician
– Wireless/Wireline Responsibilities Implement and maintain client’s Wireline Networks (IP Networks, DWDM, MPLS, CMTS Routers/Systems) throughout various technical facilities including Hub Sites/Headends, Transport Shelters, Repeater Stations, Microwave data links and Data Centers.

Installation/troubleshooting of various transport systems/equipment supporting client products and services Responsible for UTRAN (Wireless) network related to backhaul, Macro, Small Cell and Indoor Sites and equipment Transport site acceptance and testing from internal/external service provider (new or upgrade/downgrade) including RFC testing Preventive Maintenance (PM) routine of Access and Transport nodes on the field including battery, call test, Nodes, microwave measurements, safety audit, LOS verification and site housekeeping (grass/snow) Troubleshoot and restore field Access and Transport service issues including minor/major/critical/service degradation Manage field warehouse and warehousing including RMA on faulty parts Plan, coordinate, and implement projects in conjunction with both both client teams to ensure alignment with regional initiatives Assist with technical training and providing support to technical staff and Customer Care department Responsible for site safety, performing site safety audits and maintenance Various other duties as needed Network Technician
– Wireless/Wireline Mandatory Skills A degree/diploma in computer or telecommunication technology complemented by 3 to 5 years related experience Experience with network planning and installation of fibre optic, CAT6 wiring and associated hardware and equipment Operational and troubleshooting experience with Ethernet, optical transport, MPLS and other network environments is considered an asset Participation in field work within various environments such as rooftops and remote areas, at all times of day, during all weather conditions Working on ground equipment underneath towers (no climbing required or allowed beyond 10 feet) Ability to accommodate occasional travel and to work various shifts including evenings, overnight, weekends, and statutory holidays Available to participate in rotational on-call duties supporting a 24/7/365 operation Some lifting of equipment up to and including 40 lbs.

Valid driver’s license Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Goal oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment A positive, “can-do” attitude and customer focused approach that will enable you to deal with challenging situations with integrity, empathy and sincerity Network Technician
