Network Engineer – IT Security (CAMH and 988 Technologies)

Position Description
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, contract (1 year) Network Engineer – IT Security to work in the Information Management Group (IMG). The Network Engineer’s primary accountability will be to maintain the integrity of CAMH network systems throughout the IT infrastructure; this includes the network infrastructure systems, voice and end user computing, 988 call centres and associated systems. The Network Engineer – IT Security will provide technical expertise in implementing and managing of network infrastructure, promoting and optimizing IT operation and security, and will conduct investigations into internal and external IT security threats.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announced that Canada will be getting a three-digit number (988) for suicide prevention. The federal government followed this news with their own announcement that CAMH will lead coordination of the delivery of this service. This will build on CAMH’s work on Talk Suicide, the existing national suicide prevention line in Canada. This project will involve coordinating with provincial and territorial partners, agencies and stakeholders to ensure the service delivery and technology delivery models are implemented effectively with the goal of providing this critical service to anyone that requires help, whenever they require help.
The Network Engineer – IT Security will provide expertise in the design and implementation of security controls and infrastructure as well as working collaboratively with the wider security team to integrate best security practices in the management of CAMH infrastructure. You will contribute to developing and maintaining high-level and low-level network design plans, as well as support and design of the enterprise voice and data network. You will also need to develop a thorough understanding of the 988 call centre network, data flows, voice and sms and to support network design and updates for the 988 systems.
Reporting to the Director, IT Security, the Network Engineer will provide technical expertise and consulting across the organization, including strategic planning and project planning. With a focus on maximizing technical investments and optimizing performance, the Network Engineer – IT Security will actively develop a long-term vision and strategy, for Telecommunications, Networks, including LANs, WANs, VoIP, VPN and Wireless technologies, based on best practices.

Qualifications

Please Note: This full-time, contract (1 year) position is NOT part of any bargaining unit.
