Naval Combat Systems Engineers maintain combat systems in ships and submarines. They are responsible for the leadership and wellbeing of a large team of highly trained technical professionals who perform the systems analysis, fault-finding and maintenance of equipment to ensure peak performance.

The primary role of the Naval Combat Systems Engineering Officer is to provide technical expertise, advice and leadership for the operation and maintenance of the following naval combat systems:

  • Above water and underwater warfare systems and its ammunition
  • Above water and underwater sensor systems
  • Navigation systems
  • Communication systems
  • Command and control systems
  • Data processing systems
  • Electronic warfare systems



  • In the Regular Force, military personnel may have atypical schedules. They have rewarding experiences and unique challenges depending on their environment.
  • In the Reserve Force, members adapt their schedule to suit their needs. They can choose to work full time or part time on a voluntary basis.


  • For the REGULAR FORCE, the salary varies between $60 792,00 and $140088,00$/year depending on experience.
  • For the Reserve Force, the salary varies between $130.80 and $346.18 per day.

  • In the Regular Force, members work on bases and stations across Canada and on operational deployments around the world.
  • In the Reserve Force, members have the opportunity to work only in their own region.
