Manager, Software Engineering – Notifications and Workflows

About the role: We are looking for a senior engineering manager to lead our Notifications and Workflows team.

Workflows help our customers manage their connected operations and trigger alerts.

They rely on us for timely and relevant notifications to stay informed and respond to various situations.

The Notifications and Workflows is a full-stack team that is responsible for building and expanding these capabilities.

It is one of the major investment areas for the company in the coming year.

In this role, you will:
• Participate with senior leadership and cross-function peers to develop a long-term roadmap and strategy for Workflows and Notification systems
• Collaborate with various stakeholders and partners teams to drive the execution of the roadmap
• Set goals and balance priorities to deliver maximum impact as a platform.

• Manage the budget for various notification channels (SMS, email, etc.)
• Work with the senior engineers on the team to develop and evolve the best practices for the team to raise the technical excellence bar
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on customer success, Build for the long term, Growth mindset, Be inclusive, Win as a team) as we scale globally and across new offices
• Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team Minimum requirements for the role:
• 8 years of relevant software engineering work experience
• 3 years of hands-on technical management experience
• 2 years experience building platforms and managing multiple stakeholders An ideal candidate also has:
• MS or Ph.D.

in Computer Science or related technical discipline
• Experience building scalable products on top of distributed systems
• Experience building large scale workflow management and/or notification systems
• Experience building scalable Saas applications
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (including listening, speaking, and writing) and ability to work well in a diverse, team-focused environment
• Proven record of attracting top-talent and rapidly growing the team
