The result of this teamwork is high-performance, easy-to-implement and cost-effective 3D sensor technologies that deliver the best results in even the most challenging 3D inline inspection applications.What will you do as a Automation Validation Engineer?The Automation Validation Engineer position routinely applies their skills to design, develop, test, document, and deliver against requirements and specifications.

The successful candidate is expected to be an intermediate level where independent skill, experience and company knowledge are applied to meet well established project deliverables.

Project duties include: mechanical design, electrical control systems design, validation test design and analysis along with existing automation equipment support.Working as part of our global Technology (R& D) team, you will reportto the Team Lead in the Automation Validation team and work at our Burnaby head office.Follows clearly established standards and guidelines as provided by the Team LeadUnderstands and utilizes the tools and processes defined by the group to effectively carry out project workDesigns automation equipment along with production jigsCarries out validation experiments against ISO standards where possible to ensure process and product consistencyParticipates in regular design reviews and demonstrates strong adherence to checklist requirementsWorks with the sensor design team to smoothly roll out new product introductions to existing or new automation infrastructureProduces task lists to breakdown project assignments into appropriate level of detailMeets delivery expectations against key project milestones Works closely with their team mitigating issues with solutionsProduces required technical reports and documentation Proactively contributes to and implements continuous improvement initiativesWhat do you need to be successful?Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Engineering Physics2-5 years working experience in a related field, with a focus on design and automation/controlsStrong knowledge of SolidWorks, EPDM and CNC-based mechanical design principlesBackground in designing and commissioning PID motion control systemsStrong understanding of metrology in theory and applicationAbility to communicate ideas and results clearly, concisely and effectively both orally and writtenGood knowledge of motion control systems using Galil or Kollmorgen productsStrong understanding of high precision machine design Strong understanding of GD& T along with knowledge of ASME Y14.5 2009 or equivalent ISO standard Experience in design of experiments and the application of scientific methodsPursues problem solving with clear understanding of facts and defines test plan and solution strategiesGood verbal and written communication skillsSolid interpersonal skills are required to function appropriately in a team environmentStrong knowledge of Google G-suite or other Office productivity softwareExperience with project management software tools to maintain task completion status and report on project progressKnowledge of Python an assetFamiliarity with optical systems such as lenses, cameras or filters is an assetHow to submit your interest?If you are interested in this exciting opportunity and working for a fast-growing global technology company with an inspiring and engaging workplace environment, please submit your application to our Human Resources team in confidence by clicking the “Apply Now” button.While we appreciate your interest in LMI very much, we are only able to respond to candidates selected for further consideration.
