Lead Software Engineer

– a Toronto early stage startup specializing in technologies for cyber security and communication taking inspiration from quantum information theory
– is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their growing team.

Role Description As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the architectural design, software development, and maintenance of the key infrastructure and server software within our team of software engineers.

The key infrastructure client is delivered in a software development kit (SDK) that allows integration with a variety of devices.

In addition, the company also supports a Key Management System (KMS) product that utilizes the SDK and integrates with existing network appliances.

The software is written in Rust.

Responsibilities: Take a lead position within the team on the architecture and design of the key infrastructure software Work with other software developers to develop the key information client and server, the SDK, and the KMS products Take care of the packaging of the software, define new releases and compatibility, and user documentation portal Proactively understand stakeholder needs, goals, expectations, and viewpoints to deliver results Assume a high level of ownership of all work developed by members of the Software Engineering team Establish software engineering best practices; provide tooling that makes compliance frictionless Be a collaborative and transparent team member Ensure high-quality code is produced by the team while employing commonly-accepted testing principles, best practices, and tooling Mentor other engineers both inside and outside the team Be an ongoing participant in Scrum teams, and embrace and champion the agile delivery process Help resolve customer issues in an efficient and timely manner Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field 7 years of software development experience 5 years of working in a Linux/Unix environment 2 years of experience building production-grade software in Rust Experience with security protocols, authentication protocols, and networking Experience with common development tools including git, CMake, JIRA, etc.
