Job Developer

Woodstock and District Developmental Services WDDS

This is a Contract position in Aurora, ON posted April 5, 2021.

WDDS is a non-profit charitable organization that has been providing opportunities and supports for people living with a developmental disability in Woodstock and surrounding areas since 1959.

WDDS is committed to supporting lifelong opportunities for individuals and their families to strive for independent living in the community through service, partnerships and advocacy.

Our Vision Statement is “A community where everybody belongs.” The Job Developer provides matching and placement services to people with a verifiable disorder who are seeking employment.

The Job Developer takes an individualized approach to support and secure employment.

S/he is responsible for establishing a direct relationship with employers – contacting them, meeting with them, securing paid opportunities, and using creative problem solving and decision making when issues arise.

The Job Developer fosters independence in others through mentorship and coaching during and after the placement to ensure the employee can complete job duties independently and meets employer expectations.

S/he is a results-oriented team player that cultivates relationships through strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.

As a Job Developer s/he must show resilience in following up and bouncing back as s/he will be responsible for securing a pre-determined number of employment-based funding targets within the fiscal year.

Initiative in establishing and executing a placement plan is critical to ensure these targets are met.

To be considered for a Job Developer position at WDDS you must have:
• Valid Driver’s License with an excellent driving record and use of a reliable vehicle
• Valid CPR Emergency First Aid Certificate
• Current Police Check including Vulnerable Screening and Driving Abstract
• Flexible approach to work to ensure that all requirements of the program are met
• Proficiency in MSOffice applications EDUCATION: Post-Secondary education in Social Services/Business.

Candidates must provide proof of education credentials at the time of the interview EXPERIENCE: Preference will be given to candidates with:
• Experience in supporting people with disabilities
• Experience in sales, job development, employer outreach and/or recruitment
• Experience in a performance-based system with a proven track record of meeting targets and outcomes
• Experience in vocational counselling/placement considered an asset
