Java Web Developer

British Columbia Institute of Technology

This is a Contract position in Burnaby, BC posted February 12, 2020.

We’re looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

Perform business analysis to capture user requirements and to design and develop appropriate technical/procedural solutions.

Lead, design and develop applications and solutions to support the business needs of BCIT .

Participate in all areas of the systems development life cycles.

Participate in projects, including planning, executing and closing phases.

Work closely with members of the ITS team to share skills and experiences and provide recommendation.

Work collaboratively with clients through analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of business applications.

Keep up with developments in the coding language, along with extensions and improvements that provide greater responsiveness and flexibility to speed up common requests and frequently repeated blocks of code.

Perform periodic audits and updates of security protocols to prevent intrusion or data loss and ensure that information submitted by users is correctly handled and encrypted while they use sites/applications.

Adhere to superior coding and documentation standards in support of future development efforts and cross-functionality.

Work independently to carry out tasks from start to finish.

Minimum two-year diploma in Computer Systems or bachelor’s degree in communications, science, business; and minimum six years of current, practical experience, of which at least four demonstrate Java web application development expertise.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Must have demonstrated specific current IT knowledge.

Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
