Java API Developer

Role: API Developer Duration: 6 Months high likelihood for extension Location: work from home to start then out of Downtown Toronto, ON Our client, a globally recognized bank is looking to hire a API Developer for a minimum 6 months based in Toronto, to work on a multiple projects within their Wholesale IT Division.

Your New Company A leading bank, with multiple offices across Canada and throughout the world are looking to onboard multiple API Developers of varying experience.

This is for a minimum 6 month contract in their Toronto office.

They have an excellent reputation within their sector and are known as a market leader.

Your New Role Our client is looking for an API developer who will help to build and transform the future of NA Wholesale IT.

There are strategic business objectives that require a technical candidate to assist in delivery.

The ideal candidate needs to understand how to work in a financial institution with exposure to Fintech and various industry innovations.

They should also have a passion for the connectivity between software and hardware, innovating and driving change, and collaborating with other developers.

They expect the candidate to have strong technical knowledge, be eager to learn and to contribute to a highly skilled development team.

We strongly value their hard work and obsession to solve complex problems on behalf of the client’s customers.

Responsibilities
· Design and develop workflow/rule-based applications for NA Wholesale Lending and On-boarding
· Utilise a proven track record delivering server-side applications through various mid-tier languages and frameworks
· Manage releases (code packaging and builds)
· Continually deploy & test, learn new techniques and technologies as a result of peer review and mentorship; share learnings with your peers
· Liaise with other engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to understand and drive the product or service’s direction
· Keep up to date and have expertise on current tools, technologies and areas like cyber security and regulations pertaining to aspects like data privacy, consent, data residency etc.

· Work independently and as part of a team to design
· Work with engineering teams in an Agile fashion
· Following the client’s Risk-Based Project Management (RBPM) and GB&GCF IT development methodologies, corporate information security and corporate website look & feel guidance to ensure successful project delivery with strict adherence to coding practices and the production of all necessary documentation What You’ll Need to Succeed:
· 3-5 years of Agile software development experience
· Excellent knowledge of Java 8 and Spring Boot
· Excellent knowledge of API design and standards including OpenAPI and Swagger
· Excellent knowledge of Database design and management including Postgres SQL
· Excellent knowledge of build and dependency management including Maven and Nexus
· Good knowledge of workflow and rule frameworks including Acitiviti and Mvel
· Good knowledge of data marshalling/de-marshalling using JSON and XML
· Good knowledge of Jenkins and git
· Good knowledge of web server configuration (Tomcat, Nginx)
· Experience of server-side testing frameworks like Junit and Selenium
· Experience of cloud technologies is an added advantage including AWS and Google Cloud
· Experience working with IDEs including IntelliJ, VS Code and Atom
· Experience managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment across multiple time zones and locations Preferred
· Knowledge of Open Banking API development is preferred
· Knowledge of software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle
· Clear, professional communication skills able to contribute to team discussions, knowing when to contribute, when to listen, and when to ask questions
· Pragmatic / lean / agile development techniques
· Comfortable operating in an “agile” development team, self-starting, motivated
· Good communication skills both written and verbal
