The work consists of informing citizens and ensuring the application of municipal by-laws according to their area of expertise. They will conduct tree-related investigations and inspections and recommend a diagnosis and prescribes appropriate remedial measures or treatments.
The workplace is at 180, Clyde Road. The working schedule is from Monday to Friday, from 7:00 to 15:00.
EXAMPLES OF TASKS PERFROMED
• Performs surveys and inspections related to trees.
• Communicates, by telephone or on occasion by site visits, with the applicants to transmit to them any relevant information.
• Analyzes the state of health of the trees as well as their structural condition and their environmental situation. Establishes a diagnosis and prescribes corrective measures or treatments based on the assessment of dangerousness factors.
• Ensures the application of municipal and provincial by-law on its function with citizens, businesses, contractors, etc.
• Collaborates on the strategy of screening and prevention of Emerald Ash Borer in order to preserve trees.
• Provides advice and follow up with private tree owners.
• Evaluates applications for permits to cut down private trees or the use of pesticides according to the current by-law. Recommend the issuance of relevant permits.
• Produces records, statistics, reports and correspondence relating to its activities.
• Provides the necessary coordination and support to foremen and their employees during work related to their function.
• Makes an inventory of park and street trees. Updates the computerized directory of trees. Formulates recommendations for IT professionals on system evolution and application development.
• Participates in the development of the systematic tree pruning program. Patrol with the responsible technical officer or foreman; established an emergency clearance.
• Performs any other related task.
INSTRUCTION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
Instruction :
Hold a specialized CEGEP diploma in forestry or any other appropriated sector and profile.
Experience :
Possess one (1) years of experience in a job that allows the incumbent to become familiar with the field of employment.
REQUIRED QUALITIES
Knowledge :
spoken and written French and English*;
*Knowledge of English is a requirement due to potential interactions with the Town’s citizens.
Skill or abilities :
to carry out inspection and investigation work;
to write clear and concise reports;
to make diagnoses;
to judge the dangerousness of the trees;
to adopt an appropriate client approach;
to be tactful and courteous;
to be autonomous.
Requirements:
Have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle.
