Human Resources Generalist
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist guides and manages all Human Resources services, policies and programs, including Recruiting and staffing, Talent development, Compensation and Talent management Manages all H&S policies for the Mississauga site.
PRIMARY:
- Talent Acquisition and Talent Management
- Recruits, interviews, and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
- Plans and conducts on-boarding activities to foster positive attitude toward Company goals
- Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance reviews, Health & Safety, and sexual harassment.
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee issues.
- Analyzes wage and salary reports and data to determine a competitive compensation plan.
- Develops and maintains an HR system that meets top management information needs
- Administers, updates and validates Compensation System on a regular basis to ensure external market equity and internal equity.
- Keeps personnel files related to all personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, performance reviews, terminations
- Administers a comprehensive performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.
- Administers benefits programs such as health benefits, insurance, vacations, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance. Policies, procedures, and good governance
- Manages all Employee relations policies and procedures
- Manages all Health and Safety policies and procedures keeping them up to date and in compliance with Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Writes directives advising department managers of Company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
- Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies.
- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions ensuring policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Ensures all HR activities are in full compliance with company’s Delegation of Authority document (DOA). Seeks legal advice on a case-by-case basis, as required.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Health and Safety
- Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports. Manages MOL interaction
- Co-Chairs the Health & Safety Committee
- Manages and monitors WSIB claims. Enforces quick return to work program
- Ensures workplace inspections and reporting are done timely and effectively
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms etc.
- Organize all company communications and meetings related to employee relations (town hall meetings, H&S presentations, HR policy and process deployment)
- Events organization including planning, preparation and supervision of all social events.
- Other HR-related functions as deemed appropriate.
- Administration of HR Related Budgets
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- 5+ years in a Human Resources Generalist role
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources management
- Must have proficient working knowledge of all Ceridian HR platform – CERIDIAN DAYFORCE
- Health & Safety and First Aid is a definite asset
- Trained as Certified Management representative for Joint Health and Safety Committee. First Aid certified.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Experience within Manufacturing Environment preferred
- Outstanding creative writing and presentation development and delivery skills
- Above average command of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Document writing at senior management level
- Comfortable speaking and making business presentations to large audiences
- Outstanding event organizational skills
