Group 17 – Network Analyst

York Region District School Board

This is a Contract position in Guelph, ON posted April 1, 2021.

Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Team Leader – Network and Security Operations Job Summary: The Network Analyst is responsible for maintaining the networking environment by identifying network requirements, installing network Infrastructure, upgrades and monitoring network performance.

The Network Analyst is also responsible for student email and maintaining the VOIP infrastructure across the district.

Major Duties: Collaborate with other team members in daily operations and design decisions and execution Responsible for the effective and reliable operation of the network infrastructure in the DDSB Design, install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and intranet systems Configure, install and maintain network hardware and software Configure, test and pilot new network technologies/products as required Design and execute operational tasks to support normal operations of network services and network infrastructure components Design, configure and maintain student email system Pro-actively monitor email performance and mail routing Provide second tier technical support Design, service and support to the wide area network Responsible for installation, configuration, support and maintenance of the local area networks Perform routine maintenance (e.g.

apply version upgrades, patches and bug fixes for the network software) Pro-actively monitor network performance (e.g.

availability, capacity, utilization) and identify potential performance improvements Design and implement network security controls and monitor network performance for potential security events Diagnose and fix network issues and identify trends Install and support VoIP Design, implement and coordinate network infrastructure projects Prepare and update appropriate documentation for the knowledge base/documentation repository Assist/mentor I.T.

specialist in problem resolutions Responsible for project coordination and implementation Other duties as assigned Equipment Used: Switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, computers, printers, server and related hardware and software Qualifications: College Diploma or University Program in Computer studies or equivalent Minimum of five years related employment experience Proven experience in a network specialist or technician role utilizing Huawei, Extreme and Cisco Meraki solutions Experience with VoIP, LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, VPN and wired/wireless network technologies (e.g.

routers, switches, network servers) Knowledge and expertise with secure email gateways and mail routing protocols Gmail experience an asset Excellent organizational, prioritization and multi-tasking skills Excellent communication, analytical, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills Proficient in computer keyboard skills Certifications e.g.

CompTIA Network/Security, CCNA, CCNP or equivalent Please note: This is a 35 hour per week, permanent position.
