What will your typical day look like?

As a Manager in our team, you will:

  • Review and oversee the full cycle, planning through execution of disruptive events projects (including advising clients on readiness activities and tactical execution of transactions),
  • Preparation and/or review of complex accounting and process memorandums under IFRS, ASPE and U.S. GAAP,
  • Contribute to business development and the strengthening of client relationships,
  • Review client deliverables prepared by junior staff and develop staff skillsets related to technical knowledge, communication skills, leadership and project management,
  • Project management responsibilities including managing advisory resource team staffing and project economics,
  • Opportunities may arise to serve clients and / or support local office teams around the country and / or internationally
  • Contribute to market-facing and eminence initiatives, including development of new service offerings and marketing campaigns,
  • Develop and lead timely communications – both internal and external – relevant to our professionals and clients,
  • Develop materials for and participate in the delivery of presentations to clients and firm personnel; and,
  • Mentor and develop teams of advisory resources.
About the team

Our National Disruptive Events Assurance practice is rapidly expanding. Joining our team will provide you with opportunities to develop and hone skills, expand your internal and external networks and be a key member in the growth of our practice.
The Disruptive Events Assurance practice focuses on advising and assisting Finance teams navigating complex transactions such as Mergers & Acquisitions, Initial Public Offerings, Divestitures & Carveouts, and launching emerging business models.
We provide subject matter expertise on technical accounting and financial reporting, securities related matters, project management, and accounting operations optimization, to enable our clients to execute on transactions and manage their financial & management reporting processes and continuous disclosure obligations on an ongoing basis.
We are looking for professionals who are looking to join a high-performing, priority growth area for Deloitte, who will contribute with strong problem-solving skills, a breadth of knowledge with respect to the technical and operational financial reporting, and strong inter-personal skills.

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone with:

  • CPA, CA designation and between 5 to 8 years of work experience
  • Experience in a finance role/in providing assurance, consulting & advisory services to finance functions
  • Strong technical skills & experience with Securities and Continuous Disclosure Obligations (Canada and U.S.), accounting processes, internal controls (NI 52-109 & SOX), risk assessments, US GAAP, IFRS, and/or ASPE
  • Expertise in financial management disciplines such as financial process design, budgeting and planning, financial reporting, close & consolidation, and business case development
  • Experience executing, auditing or advising on complex transactions impacting Finance teams (such as M&A, IPO, Carveout) for either reporting issuers or private entities
  • Experienced with project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, documentation, managing client expectations and team leadership
  • Capacity to think about requirements from a strategic perspective (options available, pros / cons or different options)
  • Proven ability to deliver the full cycle of project management accountabilities (experienced with project problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, facilitation of decision making, documentation, managing client expectations and team leadership, management of project economics)
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
