A role with Deloitte’s Canadian Delivery Centre is an opportunity to work on impactful projects, leverage state-of-the-art technologies, and develop your analytical thinking and business management skills.

What will your typical day look like?

As a Front-End Developer within the Deloitte team, you will help drive the design and delivery of various applications. You will work with a dynamic team of developers, business analysts and consultants to implement and maintain applications for our clients end-to-end.  You will also provide expertise on how to build applications from the ground up on latest and greatest tech, and/or how to augment existing assets to maximize value to our clients.

What you’ll do:

• Cultivate a deep understanding of the portfolio of applications we utilize, along with their respective strengths and weaknesses, to provide solutions to existing and future challenges.
• Assist in the design of software components to enhance our portfolio.
• Construct design documents and documentation to aid in maintenance and code reuse.
• Through your knowledge of industry trends and tools, together with your own experiences, work with the team to improve our software, our environment and our process.
• Translate project goals and product roadmaps into organized technical tasks.
• Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously.
• Provide technical guidance and support in resolving critical issues.
• Offer your input and expertise to technical and non-technical audiences.

About the team

Within the Canadian Delivery Centre (CDC) you will have the opportunity to be part of a growing team of talented solution developers and consultants, delivering best-in-class operate services for Deloitte Digital clients. As an extension of Deloitte Digital’s Front-End Engineering team, you will also gain experience with Deloitte’s methodologies and leverage user-centric thinking and design capabilities to implement new technologies and cloud solutions that are most in demand by our clients. 

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

You are someone who has as many of the following as possible: 

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field
• 2+ years post graduate experience, preferably in client-facing consulting roles
• Experience building a design system/component library
• Experience curating a modern JavaScript library
• Experience on a modern JavaScript stack
• ES 6/7/Next/whatever (and babel)
• Node.js, React, Redux, Styled-components, SCSS, Storybook, Lerna, Webpack, npm
• An understanding of web accessibility best practices (WCAG 2.1, AA)
• CI/CD experience (GitLab IC)
• You are opinionated about what it takes to produce great software, but remain receptive to other’s ideas.
• You care about ownership. You proactively seek out bugs and fix them. Occasionally, when bugs find you, you don’t sweep them under the rug.
• You are experienced with software estimation, often confronted with complexity and uncertainty.
• You make decisions based on data. You are versed with tools to measure every aspect of the application.
• You have developed large applications in a team environment.
• You are not afraid of changes. Armed with excellent refactoring techniques, you work effectively with legacy code.
• You are a good communicator. You are able to present complicated solutions to non-technical audience in a simple and logical way.
