Engineer PLM/CAD Process Specialist


This is a Contract position in Valcourt, QC posted November 4, 2021.

As part of the IT solutions team, the PLM/CAD and Engineering Process Specialist is responsible for maintaining PLM/CAD environments and understanding our business needs in order to translate them into technological solutions.



  • Functional analysis, lightweight project management, data model development, business needs assessment, smart workflow design
  • SmarTeam API customization (VB, VBA,VB.NET)
  • SmarTeam customization using SmarTeam Scripts
  • Administration, management of user access, installation (client and server), high availability configuration in virtual environments
  • Development of applied methodologies and training material, provision of training
  • Multisite implementation/administration (databases and vaults)
  • Provision of support and complex problem solving
  • CATIA administration and integration
  • System installations and updates
  • Administration of SmarTeam, CATIA, Windchill, Creo and SOLIDWORKS applications
  • Staying abreast of new developments in the engineering applications market
  • Analysis and integration of product development processes into the PLM system
  • Optimization of current methods to accelerate production



  • Degree in a discipline related to information technology in an R&D environment or a field related to engineering
  • 5 years of IT experience at every stage of the vehicle development lifecycle, including, but not limited to, strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills that demonstrate both logical thinking and creativity
  • System analysis and software development experience
  • Experience with Oracle databases, SQL, Java, Microsoft .NET, Visual Basic, web development, JavaScript
  • Strong troubleshooting skills; ability to identify models and come up with ideas
  • Bilingualism (English and French)
  • Highly organized, able to thrive in a fast paced environment, draw on best practices and find the solution to any problem with an innovative mind and a positive attitude
  • Familiarity with software design models and best practices
  • Ability to deal professionally with a variety of people
  • Knowledge of R&D (required)
  • Analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively as part as a team
  • Ability to provide technical support in a professional manner
  • Ability to conduct research into technical issues and products as required
  • Attention to detail with the ability to determine root cause
