Job Description Electronics & Embedded Software Engineer Permanent Full-Time role based in Hamilton, New Zealand Great opportunity to join a Global Animal Health organisation Excellent renumeration and benefits Be an integral member of the team as the Electronics & Embedded Software Engineer Be part of a friendly, collaborative team, where you will be fully supported to excel Your role is responsible for the design, development and testing of embedded software solutions, contributing to the research and development of novel farm automation technologies.

This includes working with Hardware, Software and Research teams to achieve positive outcomes What You Will Do Responsibilities include, however not limited to: Logic programming, firmware and supporting software development for our companies Animal Health products and equipment.

Testing and validation of solutions; in-house and in the operating environment, this includes creation of test plans, performing test scenarios, collecting, and analysing data, and documenting of test results and observations.

Leading research and development initiatives for new product development and product upkeep, taking responsibility for the firmware design and development, testing and validation of the solution, creation update and publishing of supporting documentation.

Participate in regular code and/or product design reviews.

Provide development time and cost estimates for new technical concepts and initiatives, including both high level and detailed estimates that accurately reflect the size and resources required.

Document designs and performance requirements, development activities, as well as installation, and support specifications for operational stakeholders.

Providing technical support for delivery teams when implementing research, development, or validation work on new or improved products.

Providing support for our companies Animal Health sales and field service technicians as and when required to resolve escalated technical support requests.

Maintain an up-to-date knowledge in your area of expertise and provide expertise within the Hardware Systems team in embedded software.

Maintaining Engineering workspaces, including labs and workshops.

What You Must Have Bachelor’s degree or higher in embedded control systems or similar field, with sufficient experience in a product development setting.

Firmware design and development experience on microcontroller platforms, such as 8051, 32-bit ARM and STM32 families.

Strong experience developing firmware in C / C++.

Extensive background designing, implementing, and debugging communications using I2C, SPI, CAN, UART and Ethernet.

Ability to turn advanced mathematical concepts and complex algorithms into efficient and reliable code.

Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell for task automation.

Strong problem-solving skills, expertise in embedded systems design, and the capacity to show initiative and judgement.

Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure for specific periods and maintain performance and meet tight deadlines.

Strong Interpersonal and communication skills.
