EERS Global is an equal-opportunity employer committed to diversity.Job DescriptionReporting to the Audio R& D Scientist, the Audio Developer is responsible for developing audio signal processing algorithms and applications for in-ear technologies.

The position involves addressing specific challenges related to audio signal processing that require in-depth experimentation and understanding.

It involves surveying the literature, setting up test environments in MATLAB, participate in data collection, carrying out analysis of audio data and user studies, and developing audio applications on MATLAB, Python, C++.

The candidate will have to keep practical implementation in mind and, depending on skillset, will be tasked with implementing and testing the results of her/his work on an embedded platform.The ideal candidate has strong signal processing knowledge, embedded programming experience, and is interested in participating in many aspects of bringing ideas to the real world.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesCharacterize audio signals using FFT, spectrograms, transient separation, formant analysis, envelope extraction, etc.Manipulate audio signals using harmonic generation, envelope shaping, distortion, transient excitation, filter banks, speech detection, etc.Participate in the design and characterization of various audio algorithms.Implement real-time audio processing algorithms on MATLAB/Python/JUCE and embedded platforms.Summarize, document and communicate findings, solutions and strategies.Participate in data collection (in lab and in field), develop experiment protocols, organize user studies.

Education and work experienceElectrical engineering, computer science, audio/music technology or relatedMaster’s degree with thesis/coursework in audio technologyBachelor’s degree with relevant internship and projects in experience in audio researchMinimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of DSP concepts such as time-frequency analysis, FFT analysis-synthesis and expertise in one or more of the following : denoising, dynamic equalizers, limiters/maximizers, compressors, active noise cancellation, feedback control, echo cancellationFamiliar with MATLAB, C++, PythonExperience in developing real-time audio applications with GUI controls on MATLAB, MaxMSP, JUCE or other C++ audio frameworksKnowledge of using DAWs such as Audacity and ReaperExperience with sound and recording equipment such as microphones, audio interfaces, loudspeakers, digital mixing consolesExperience with automation and efficient workflows to analyze and process audio dataExperience with real-time operability and complexity reduction of DSP algorithms targeted for embedded platformsBasic knowledge of statistical analysis, modelling and Machine learning Additional skills:Effective written and verbal skills in English and FrenchGood people and communication skills: ability to accept directions, provide and receive constructive feedbackStrong technical aptitude: exhibit a structured and detail-oriented approachExcellent analytical and problem solving skillsStrong time management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, be punctual, and respect deadlinesAbility to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teamsSelf-motivated and focused
