Development Manager

Job summary:

Reporting to the Development Director, the Development Manager will guide the software production efforts of his team, making sure the efforts are in line with the company product priorities. He will interact with our product owners and technical leaders in order to make sure that clear development objectives are provided to his team. The Development Manager will manage the delivery capacity of his unit specialized in an area of the software suite. He will collaborate in translating business needs to functional requests and in making sure the technical requirements are understood by his team. He will be central in providing verifiable functional increments for product integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage developers and quality assurance analysts of his unit;
  • Plan, coordinate, supervise and monitor projects and development implementation, taking into account the impacts on all projects and technological issues;
  • Work closely with PO, Business Analyst, and Technical Lead to ensure the breaking down of functional requirements into development work items;
  • Share the deliverables objectives with the members of his unit and make sure to unify the required technical and functional interpretations;
  • Manage, assign and schedule development work activities by tracking and reporting progress;
  • Align and reconcile the priorities of the unit with the objectives of the product, and evolution resulting from the company priorities;
  • Manage risks and problematic situations. Be the spokesperson for PO for all deliverables and developments assigned to the unit;
  • Ensure that software solutions and deliverables meet the quality standards.
  • Appropriate assigned tasks, and collaborate with other Product Leads and technical Leads throughout the development cycle;
  • Be in solution mode and encourage team members to do the same;
  • Develop the necessary technical expertise to nurture each member’s autonomy within the team;
  • Be in charge of all his employee’s annual evaluations, vacation requests, and needed training.
  • Ensure the professional development of each member of his team;

Requirements:

  • BAC or DEC in IT or any other appropriate discipline;
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in software development and/or the POS industry;
  • Experience in people management;
  • Excellent skills in solving complex problems and technical issues;
  • Experience in an entrepreneurial environment (asset);
  • Strong communication skills in English & French (Spoken & Written);
