Job Description :

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for design, development, deployment, and operation of Operational Support System (OSS) and Service Assurance software and tools for our internal and external customers in a “You build it, you run it” model.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, develop, customize, operate, and maintain high quality microservices, APIs, platforms, and tools
  • Practice CI/CD in a DevOps environment with continuous testing and validation. Ensure automated unit tests are written
  • Coach less-experienced Software Developers
  • Work with the Product Owner, Agile Leader to review and provide input into backlog, analyze stories, determine tasks 
  • Develop detailed specifications as required for the implementation such as sequence diagrams
  • Influence Technical Lead and Architect to ensure new products are supportable and maintainable before launch
  • Work closely with other Developers, Technical Lead, Architect, and Product Owner
  • Continually drive to reduce time-to-isolate and time-to-resolve production issues
  • Respond to operational issues in a timely fashion and assist the team as needed. Analyze and troubleshoot support issues, perform root cause analysis, and determine solutions
  • Actively participate in a no blame and continuous improvement culture, one that gives trust openly, responsibility freely
  • Design and develop software that scales, lasts the test of time, and does not require us to work / be woken after hours 
  • Demonstrate ownership in everything you create, with a focus on quality, collaboration, and delivery 
  • Focus on smooth flow of work, delivering iteratively, incrementally, and frequently while removing technical debt
  • Use proven practices and experiment, take calculated risks 
  • Ensure appropriate governance and change management are followed, suggest changes as improvements are needed
  • Openly and freely share deep technical understanding of the technologies, software, systems, and tools being delivered 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC TRAINING

  • University degree in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 10 + years of Software Development Experience using Java, Java Spring Boot, Python, JavaScript, PHP, JSON, Swagger

  • 5+ years software development experience in DevOps model

  • 3+ years of containerized, microservice development

 

SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Passionate about customer experience and usability

  • Experience in Product Development, OSS Software in a Service Provider beneficial

  • Expertise developing software systems leveraging Jenkins, Maven, Python, PHP, JS, Mongo, Docker, Kubernetes, REST

  • Deep experience using Git, Slack, JIRA, Confluence

  • Hands-on experience delivering services on Google (GCP) 

  • Demonstrated use of Lean methods, continuous improvement, and learning throughout career

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. French would be an asset

  • Experience working in an agile environment using Scrum team or Kanban methodology 

  • High level understanding of Internet, wired and wireless networking standards and protocols

  • Encourage and demonstrate lean approaches, curiosity, continual learning, and empathy towards others

  • Genuinely positive attitude and a keen interest to continually learn, experiment, and improve self
