Developer, New Grad

The Opportunity:

The New Grad Information Systems (IS) Developer is responsible for the analysis, design, development and support of business applications and systems. An IS Developer works under the guidance and direction of an IS Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support the portfolio of applications for a designated business area.

We are actively seeking one New Graduate developer for our IS Oilsands Mining team.

The successful candidate will participate in the department’s New Graduate program. Over the course of three years, you will gain hands on experience in a variety of specializations and disciplines within IS and receive coaching and development assignments outside of their ongoing responsibilities. The New Graduate Program is intended to lay the foundation for an effective and impactful role within IS at Canadian Natural.

Key Accountabilities:

• Work in an Agile development environment to design, develop and support multiple web and client based business applications
• Collaborate with IS team and business stakeholders to estimate and refine user stories for development initiatives
• Work alongside other developers to produce quality code using accepted design patterns, best practices and peer reviews as well as leveraging user acceptance testing feedback loops
• Produce and help manage technical support documentation for the business applications portfolio
• Adhere to established IS processes for incident and service requests as well as change management
• Identify, investigate, troubleshoot and solve application defects as needed
• Provide technical assistance in the installation and maintenance of third party applications
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and documentation
• Manage multiple tasks at the same time understanding priorities and delivery expectations

• Shift schedule: 5×2 – Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day

Skills & Qualifications:

• A post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science or a related field of study
• Microsoft technologies – C#, .NET (latest Framework and Core), and Entity Framework
• Modern web frameworks such as Blazor / React / Angular / Vue.
• JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
• Relational SQL databases such as Oracle / MS SQL
• Exposure to Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum) considered an asset
• Azure DevOps experience considered an asset
• Cloud technologies experience (e.g. Azure, AWS) considered an asset
• PowerShell, SSRS, PowerBI experience considered an asset
• Analytical, interpersonal and team skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong multi-tasking and prioritizing abilities
