Data Science Manager

Procurement and Program Management
– PPM – Procurement and Program Management (PPM) / The Data Science Manager is focused on turning data into insights and will be responsible for processing a range of complex sets of data and connecting that with actions or options that can drive business performance.

In this role the employee will plan the structural needs of an analytics data environment, centralize, and prepare data for analytics, explore data to seek deep insights through application of industry accepted analytics and data science practices as projects, and to communicate those findings, including overseeing the work of junior staff and providing guidance to other analysts across the enterprise.

What You Will Do Manages ongoing collaboration with business lines with management teams including Directors, VPs and Senior VPs and professionals to identify new ways of leveraging data to assist with analytical needs, provide portfolio/project insights to help business lines make informed decisions.

Coordinates and provides technical leadership for data needs among business lines and have an enterprise wide understanding of information flow.

Coordinates and provides technical leadership to business lines, IT and data science/reporting.

Ensure that data is being captured, processed and consumed efficiently and consistently.

Collects, formats and structures available information that is currently stored in multiple repositories across the organization.

Teams with and works in collaboration with business lines and IT to leverage available technology and new tools to streamline and provide alternative solutions to data collection and data structuring in order to prepare information for analyses.

Develops data schema and adjusted workflows to ensure data is being captured consistently, accurately and stored in a centralized repository.

Develops and maintain analytics models and tools to assess the cost-benefit implications of proposed options or solutions related to business undertakings.

Develops data science analytic approaches such as machine learning, deep learning, and natural language programming using tools like Python and R.

Presents data findings to multiple levels including to management teams (Directors, VPs and Senior VPs) and professionals within the organization.

Provides technical guidance and leadership to data analysts within business units to modernize skills related to proper data structuring and use of business intelligence tools to enable self-service within business lines.

Identifies analytical skills development opportunities for analyst talent across the enterprise.

Who We Are Looking For Several years’ experience in the field of data analytics or data science, turning data into insights and providing insights across an enterprise, while overseeing the work of junior staff.

Must have specialized knowledge of Machine Learning and/or AI (Artificial Intelligence) programming.

Must have specialized knowledge of scripting programing languages including but not limited to Python, R, and SQL.

Must have specialized knowledge of database management.

Must have specialized knowledge of design thinking process / client centric design.

Must have specialized knowledge of UX (user experience/centric) design processes including the development of products such as dashboards, reports, applications, etc.

Must have specialized knowledge of Agile project management.

A degree in a program of study related to computer science, IT, data science, mathematics, statistics, geomatics, business analytics or a related combination of learning and experience deemed equivalent by IO.

Holding a Project Management (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, Agile, DevOps), or Microsoft Azure Certification, or being a Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) is an asset.

The salary range for this position is $93,065 to $139,585 with a corresponding job level of P5 .
