Cloud Engineer

Why is this role important?

The Data Insights & Analytics team at Loblaw is seeking a Cloud Engineer.

We are currently in the process of modernizing the data infrastructure onto consolidate IT infrastructure, automate workloads, and pursue next-generation innovation .

To continue this transformation, we’re seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with expertise in the design, development, and implementation of large-scale projects in the cloud.

The ideal candidate is experienced in cloud-based tech, with a firm grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, and ability to customize them to help our business become more secure and efficient.

Extensive knowledge of cloud maintenance, cross collaboration and advanced industry knowledge is key to keeping us on the cutting edge.

From day one, you’ll have an immediate impact on the day-to-day efficiency of our IT operations, and an ongoing impact on our overall growth.

What You’ll Do: Create technical architecture blueprint for cloud native solutions (preferably GCP) Provision and maintain cloud infrastructure as code (IaC), Build and maintain Terraform scripts, troubleshoot issues with GCP services and access.

Create reusable deployment packages that align with security, compliance, and service management policies Curate, review and approve the use of cloud-native tools and services (preferably GCP).

Standardize and automate commonly needed platform components and solutions.

Create reference architectures for cloud native services Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance, maintain cloud knowledge management Provide guidance to development teams to build cloud competencies Cross collaborate with cloud site reliability engineers, network engineers, and security engineers, analytics &data teams, cloud partners Maintain functional cloud platform in alignment with operational procedures.

Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design.

Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines Work in tandem with our engineering teams to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions (preferably GCP) for the company Develop and implement technical efforts to design cloud native applications at the direction of lead architects, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for cloud native solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance Participate in critical cloud incidents, identify root cause, fix and document problems, and implement preventive measures Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required Increase GCP cloud, increase cloud product/feature use, Advocate for cloud adoption by sharing success stories, Communicate cloud efficiencies and opportunities Contribute to cloud road map & other strategy deliverables related to cloud platform management What You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or mathematics 2 years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions (preferably GCP) Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected frameworks Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics Proven ability to collaborative with multi-disciplinary teams of analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts A Team player and self-starter with the ability to take initiative, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.

1 Years shell scripting, Python, SQL programming Exposure to spark ecosystem Experience building with Microservices architecture DAG orchestrations using workflow management systems
– Airflow Demonstrated understanding of Git and Code Management Proven ability to use CI/CD Tooling (Examples: Jenkins) 1 Years of Terraform Experience Deployed Infrastructure as Code 1 Years of Kubernetes Experience Knowledge of web services, API, REST Knowledge and understanding of fundamental data systems architect including, but not limited to: SQL Databases (ex.

MySQL, PostgreSQL) Cloud Native Databases (ex.
