 You as a ‘Climate and Sustainability Advisor’ will:

  • Be part of a growing team that acts as a centre of excellence across the company and collaborates with other departments to provide best in class solutions to the market.
  • Support clients and projects to develop and deliver on sustainability objectives by working with internal teams (subject matter experts, estimating, etc.) as well as external consultant partners to integrate and achieve high-performance and sustainable buildings and communities.
  • Outside of projects, lead internal coordination to identify, document and disseminate information on sustainable technologies and solutions, including costs, supply chain, impact on embodied and operational carbon, and other sustainability metrics.
  • Actively track emerging sustainability trends in the market, including client sustainability goals, regulatory requirements, voluntary standards, etc. to inform ongoing research and development.
  • Be a driving force behind continuous improvement through focused training and development of operations staff in technical areas of sustainability such as stormwater management, rainwater/greywater harvesting, water use reduction, envelope thermal performance, high efficiency building systems, renewable systems, waste management, material selection, thermal comfort, ventilation and indoor air quality, daylighting, health and wellness, etc.
  • Work with our internal marketing team to create content that highlights our project successes, communicates our technical know-how, and promotes our cradle to grave services.
  • Have general knowledge in a wide range of sustainability related technical fields, with expertise in at least one, including energy efficiency, embodied carbon, systems (any of building envelope, mechanical, electrical, etc.), materials, waste management, water efficiency, stormwater management, or other as appropriate.

Is this the right role for you?

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or similar with a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working to drive sustainable projects with proven ability to collaborate, define, plan and deliver on assigned tasks and broader, outcome-based goals.
  • Strong passion for sustainability and improving the building environment through understanding of broad concepts that are important to sustainability such as embodied and operational carbon, Life Cycle Assessments, circular economy, resilience and climate adaptation, health and wellness etc. with the ability to communicate implications to corporate strategy.   
  • Excellent skills in the areas of time management, prioritization with the ability to juggle multiple priorities with minimal structure and supervision.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups with varying interests across multiple locations to reach mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills with experience in communication strategies to raise awareness, increase understanding, drive engagement, and build a corporate brand with respect to sustainable practices and performance.
  • Strategic thinker and agile problem solver, while simultaneously driving a rigorous, data-driven approach to understanding the environment and driving for results.
