ChainXY: Python Data Extraction Developer

This is a Full-time position in Sunset Beach, BC posted January 11, 2022.

CompanyChainXY is responsible for a market-leading dataset about various retail, restaurant, financial (+ more) chains.

Our data is used primarily in corporate real estate and market research activities by some of the largest names in their industries.

Integral to the company is a very large emphasis on quality and accuracy, and this is where you would be playing a key role!Role and ResponsibilitiesCreation and maintenance of Python scripts that are used to build our library (80%)Performing QA tasks on output from the scripts (10%)Responding to customer requests for support around the library and addressing any issues found (5%)Creating and maintaining relevant documentation (5%)Qualifications and Education RequirementsMinimum 1 year working with software development or equivalent in Education.

Experience working with Python is mandatory, with a preference for knowledge ScraPy library being very desirable.

Experience with Python-related personal projects outside of a work environment may be applicable to this requirement as well.Experience working with REST API’s, Structured Data (JSON, XML, etc.), HTML, and HTTP RequestsKnowledge of version control system (GitHub)Preferred SkillsBackground in web development would be very beneficial in the roleExperience with CSS Selectors and/or XPATH is highly desiredFamiliarity with Spatial/GIS concepts and its applications to development and databasesWorking Environment + BenefitsFlexible working hours.Preference for candidates who are located in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland Region of BC, or Vancouver IslandTemporarily working from home until our return to our office, but flexible working conditions are certainly possible for the right candidateApplicant must be already eligible to work in Canada37.5 hours/week.
