BI and Data Analytics Director

Our client, a company at cutting edge of technologies, is looking for a Bi and Data Analytics Director (9922).

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly enthusiastic Business Intelligence & Data Governance Director, that will develop and lead the data roadmap, infrastructure, and governance, that will thrive as a technical expert, thought leader, and teacher with the diverse and highly skilled team. You will leverage your leadership and technical expertise to mobilize the Data Team to ensure the business has the right data at the right time that will allow for better decision making and promote best practices across the organization. With the support of a passionate team, you will help create real value for both our internal stakeholders and your teammates.

Two aspects make this position unique and exciting: this function is a new mandate which allows you to have creative input on the team’s structure and vision as well as you will be working with all the critical stakeholders within the organization. If you do not want to fall into a routine and be an isolated BI person, you have come to the right place.

Your responsibilities will be the following:

  • Develop and execute a Data strategy that supports all business units across the organization.
  • Lead and grow the Data team from Data Engineering to Data Science to Data Analytics.
  • Work with other departments to understand their Data needs and promote the adoption of analytical principles within the organization.
  • Increase and maintain data literacy within the organization, helping teams best take advantage of the Data available to them.
  • Build and maintain the Data Infrastructure and Governance (Collection to Cleansing to Reporting, Languages, BI Platforms, etc.).
  • Serve as a technical expert (SME) to the Data team, guiding their design and architecture decisions and validate the quality of the analytical approach and project outputs of the other team members.
  • Fill in experience gaps as the teams grows (including writing code, building reports, debugging data pipelines, etc.).
  • Oversee experimentation design and analysis framework to help deepen the understanding of the products and services.
  • Lead the development of statistical models to extract trends, measure results, and predict future performance.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a BI environment (necessary).
  • 3+ years’ experience in a data leadership capacity (you’ve lead teams, and you are comfortable sitting at a table with C-levels).
  • Experience with BI tools, building a custom BI product, solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure.
  • Database / DBA experience, SQL/noSQL, OLAP cubes.
  • Advanced knowledge in statistical modelling, coupled with 5+ years of hands-on application in a business environment (regression analysis, predictive models, machine learning, algorithms…).
  • A proven ability to use SQL, R or Python to effectively extract data from SQL and NoSQL repositories as well as REST API’s.
  • Capacity to visualize effectively complex sets of data, draw business-relevant conclusions and present them in an understandable manner to non-BI stakeholders (Python Dash, RShiny, PowerBI).
  • Extremely reliable and dependable; thorough and meticulous, with a great attention to detail.
  • Positive, problem-solving mindset; a team player before all who loves to help and provide solutions.
  • A master’s degree, in mathematics, business intelligence, statistics, engineering, computer science or any applicable field is preferred.
  • Must live in Canada (Mostly Montreal area).
