Allegro IT Business Analyst – Mid & Back Office

Impala Terminals Group

This is a Contract position in Toronto, ON posted August 5, 2022.

Main Purpose: We require an accomplished business analyst with experience of Allegro Power.

The candidate will initially work on a project to implement Allegro for Power trading but will also be expected to work on a variety of other projects across the business.

This will entail detailed requirements gathering, a gap analysis against the existing Allegro implementation, designing both tactical and strategic solutions to mitigate any gaps and then supporting the project through to delivery.

Ideally the candidate would have experience of front, middle and back office business functions although this is not essential.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities: Primary responsibility is the determination & clear articulation of business requirements for Power trading Work with external consultants to deliver Allegro for Power and ensure the solution meets business requirements and there are no business surprises for go-live Close engagement with business teams, acting as the requirements authority (the source of truth) when clarification of the business process is required, and identifying process improvement opportunities Close engagement with the functional architecture to agree on a logical design of the solution, including screen design & usability to optimize business processes Quality assurance of any technical development against business requirements Key point of functional escalation for technical and QA teams during requirement development & testing Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Proven ability to act as a bridge between the business and development team located in other offices, translating business concepts into requirements that are implementable Expected to have 5 years’ experience of requirements analysis in a commercial environment Ability to work independently and comfortable with managing a busy workload of changing priorities Ability to drive business process changes challenging current business practices and working with key business personnel Extensive knowledge and experience in some or all of the following areas: Leading or responsible for delivering parts of large Allegro projects on Horizon version of software.

Changes to Allegro Data Model and Visual Models.

Knowledge of Allegro class events and Oracle SQL would be beneficial but not essential Physical and financial Power trading in North America (primarily US needed, Canada useful).

Market specifics, ISO’s, instruments and their front to back lifecycle Environmental Products, front-to-back trade lifecycle.

Knowledge of fundamentals of: ISOs e.g.

ERCOT, PJM, MISO transmission grid or similar Power scheduling Analysis of ISO settlement data versus our own shadow settlement calculations Knowledge of accounting and accrual processes’ .

Integration with Trading platforms, Pricing platforms, and ERPs Experience of a variety of software development methodologies (e.g.

continuous integration, iterative development) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong academic background – excellent degree from a top tier university is required in a subject that demonstrates the need for logical thinking, precise understanding and clear articulation Beneficial to be a domain expert in the following areas: Natural Gas physical and financial products, front to back lifecycle, Operations (European and US models) & Risk Management.

Position & risk management for physical commodity trading Trade confirmation management, including term sheet and confirmation/contract production Trade capture for physical commodity & derivative transactions Methods of trading and credit risk mitigation (Documentary Letters of Credit etc.) Must have legal working rights in Canada without sponsorship now or in the future Key Relationships and Department Overview: Trafigura is committed to building and maintaining world class IT applications and infrastructure.
