By analyzing water data gathered by our easy-to-use sensor networks, in 2020, Alert Labs saved 1 Billion gallons of wasted water, and stopped 17.9 Million pounds of CO2e from entering the atmosphere.

What kinds of activities will you do as a senior Application Software Developer?:As a senior application software developer, you’ll provide leadership and software design skills to take our client application and cloud platform to the next level.

You’ll work with our user experience lead and other stakeholders to design new components, pages, and features.

You’ll implement these designs in collaboration with other team members.

All of our developers write testable, efficient code using modern frameworks.Alert Labs is adopting Flutter for our next generation of client software and user interfaces across the Web, Android, and iOS.

We use Node.Js/Typescript on the back-end and our current dashboards use React for the front-end.

By joining the team now you’ll help reimagine core features as well as add exciting new ones.Responsibilities:You take full ownership for successfully executing challenging projects:Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to develop detailed requirementsDevelop written designs, including software architecture, and work plansGet the project done, hands-on and with other team membersYou provide guidance to other developers in the context of projects you are leading and as a team expertYou analyse problems and synthesize solutions applying both technical skill and consideration of the business case.

You can push the boundaries and develop novel solutions to new challenges.Your primary technical responsibility is in client-facing applications including the web dashboard, however you’ll contribute across the system where needed.

Must Haves:Undergraduate degree in computer science/engineering plus 4 years of professional experience, or equivalent.Experience and success with front-end development of user facing software in a team environment.

You either led this project or had a high degree of ownership.Strong computer science fundamentals including data structures and algorithms, databases, and/or distributed systemsSuccessful experience leading other developers on a team or mentoring junior developers.Comfortable learning new technologies and choosing the right tool for the jobCommunicate effectively with people in different roles.

You are open to learning and to mentoring.Nice to Haves:A flair for UI design and an understanding of how users think about the systemUndergraduate degree in computer science/engineering Experience with one or more of Dart, Flutter, Typescript, Node.Js, ReactSuccessful experience with automated testing (unit and system) for front-ends.

You know how to keep quality high and still ship code quickly.In this role, you’ll be working directly with:Dan Urquhart is responsible for our cloud platform.

Dan is a Professional Engineer who has been leading software teams for 15 years and holds several patents.

In his spare time, Dan has written several articles for new developers and leaders.Curtis VanderGriendt leads Product and UX.

Curtis has grown UX into a collaborative and integrated process with development teams at multiple companies.
